I don't think this team has the cap space to sign him in the first place, and I don't know if Big Bert fits the team's new style.

He definitely doesn't. Altho because of Naslund, he may be able to get his game back together but I wouldn't be willing to risk that.

We have enough reclamation projects for the next season already. Bert could still contribute I'm sure, but isn't the true power forward anymore that we could use.

He's not that good anymore and doesn't do the same things that made him effective player in the past.

I'd be very upset if the Rangers signed him.

the guy went from the best power foward in the league... to complete jack arse, because he wanted to get back at a guy for cheap shotting his teams captain naslund. i will never say what he did was right, which was rediculously wrong!

but i can see no team giving him a chance and glen taking him with open arms.

a second line of betuzzi-dubinski-naslund would be pretty sick

just playin devils advocate...

There's no way the Rangers will sign Bertuzzi.

would you honestly rather have cooke on the second line then bertuzzi??

i am a big cooke fan but he is on our third line tops... i think we have more then a few guys to fill that role.

i must be hammered that i am pushing to sign bert... naslund our new top scorer did have his best years playing with him.

straka was washed up before he mad friends with jags

id rather sign cooke over rismiller. rismiller is another big winger that is not physical, he is like a less skilled marcel hossa. i watch alot of sharks games, he aint that good. Cooke hits and plays on the PK and would help our team speed. rismiller aint fast. rismiller works hard but is not that good at anything really.

Q: How would you describe your game?

A: "I like to get in on the forecheck, create some energy for my team, get some hits -- some big hits -- and chip in on offense."

I like Matt Cooke. Sathers running out of pie to dish out though. Cooke is alot of what we already have alot of too.

Still Sather has something up his sleeve. He mentioned wanting some more veteran presence in that last call....its likely Shanny to get that last piece of Pie.

Its a small piece of pie though. Could be Cherepenovs piece of pie, or Korpeedo

rismiller is ahl bound, i hope. if sather gave him a one way deal he is out of his skull. we have way to many kids that are cheeper and have way more potenal then him. i dont even know the guys game but just reading the boards i know. avery got 4, cooke will got 2.5 at least, you willing to pay that?

maybe betts is out. why would rismiller be signed??? voros is upgrade over hollweg on wing. rismiller is a centre and he is nhl bound most likely.

i have never been a fan of betts because of his lack of offense. but like everyone says he is probably the best 4th line center in the league. unreal at faceoffs and the pk you really think rasmiller will take his spot? I honestly see him in a blue shirt untill the pyatt/dupont group forces him out

...

it all depends on what kind of money bertuzzi wants. if we can lets say trade away prucha($1.6) for a pick and then sign bertuzzi to a 1-year, $2 mill deal, that would not be bad at all...he does have great chemistry with naslund.

Lines could then be:

Korpikoski- Gomez - Zherdev
Bertuzzi - Dubinsky - Naslund
Dawes - Drury - Callahan
Voros - Anisimov - Fristche

Those would be excellent lines in my mind. We would have one of the deepest teams in the NHL. Also, in a year when Bertuzzi's contract expires, we can alway have a guy like Cherepanov take his spot.

Aye! He's our best defensive forward and one of the best PK specialists (if not the best) in the league. Betts is like Joel Otto without offensive skills.

yeah man totally, after 1 NHL game, korpikoski should totally be our first line left wing.

first of all bertuzzi doesnt fit the description of the kind of team that sather/renney want coming next year, 2nd korpikoski wont be playing on that first line, 3rd anisimov wont be playing on the 4th line, id rather him i hartford getting 1st line minutes down there, 4th betts will be in the lineup regardless of what people think, he is just awesome on the penalty kill and idk about you guys but if you were playing on a line with hollweg and orr for a season i dont think youd score very much either.

I like korpikoski myself, but collins is right, first line is way too much wishful thinking. Maybe if he starts on the 3rd line and gets hot he could move up, but i don't see him being like a dubinsky who just happened to mesh well w jagr and straka, I think korpedo will make the pro team but as a third liner. to pencil him in as first line is just setting him up to fail and get sent down, he reminds me of sundstrom with more scoring touch, not exactly first line material
