Doesn't O'Sullivan hate Canada? I remember a Kings fan having it in his quote, and posting the link at one point. It was something along the lines of O'Sullivan congratulating Bernier for doing well with Team Canada, but saying he'd never root for them, because he hates Canada.

Don't you think that means "Team Canada" as opposed to Canada itself? For example, I cheer against Sweden in international hockey because they are often Canada's strongest competition and I just don't like many of their hockey players (except Lidstrom).

But I like Sweden and Swedish people.

Lats has as much upside as O'Sullivan? O_o O'Sullivan has the potential to be a First line center, Lats won't be a 1st line winger.

I honestly think Ek's best source is the threads here at HF. We were talking about players Montreal could or should target for offer sheets and we mentioned O'Sullivan.

I really think he reads these boards and believes this to be gospel.

Did Lombardi personally tell you that? Remember, Cammy was traded for a 1st rounder. Why does everyone insist that Higgins is always the return for any trade no matter what?

Because it seems realistic, and I'm basing it on the fact that when we tried to get Hossa at the deadline they wanted Higgins+ So Higgins being a semi-consistent upcoming good player would make sense if they wanted him. If they want Lats instead be my guest I'd gladly give Lats over Higgins.

A trade for O'Sullivan would have to begin with Komisarek...

The problem is you'd have to throw in Kopitar...

Useless hockeybuzz rumor.

O'Sullivan is their guy. No way they let him go for anything but a crazy offer sheet.

Latendresse will never ever score 50 goals. Never.

I don't think Montreal and the Kings are a good match.

The Kings are looking for an experienced defenseman and other than Komisarek Montreal doesn't have any that would be of interest to Lombardi in a deal for O'Sullivan.

Since you guys aren't moving Komisarek (and who can blame you), I don't think there is a deal to be made here.

Also, I think the Kings match any offer up to $3.9M a season, and I doubt that O'Sullivan gets an offer sheet that high from anyone. I base this opinion on the idea that the Kings were probably willing to hang on to Cammalleri if he would have signed a 4 year deal for around $4M a season. In Lombardi's eyes (and mine too) O'Sullivan >>>> Cammalleri, so the Kings might have to overpay a little on this guy, but he is worth hanging onto. I see him as having the potential to be a consistent 30 goal scorer if he plays on Kopitar's wing along with Brown.

Great another small center. That's what we've always needed.

3 Offensive lines

The Montreal Canadiens would be better suited, in my opinion, as a club the rolls 3-offensive lines.
The ideal centers woud be: Sundin, Plekanec & Koivu (in no particular orders).

I don't think it is that much of a stretch that the CH would target O'Sullivan eventhough I doubt he ends up here.

Higgins & Latendresse, which I see as being on the 3rd line with Lapierre alot on some posts, would be somewhat of a waste to me...

Tanguay, Higgins, both Kostitsyn's, Latendresse & Kovalev needs to be offensive players on an offensive line (eventhough most of them can also play effective 2-way games).

If you pair any of them with Lapierre, it is going to take out a whole lot of offensive punch.
Thus why I believe we need to roll three offensive line and keep Lapierre as an energy, checking line type of player.

(By the way I saw him, Lapierre, playing at Repentigny yesterday in some tournament along with Jason Pominville. It was great, he was constantly smiling, laughing, skating, dangling, shooting. They were both great eventhough they clearly didn't play at their normal level. Lapierre had a surprising sets of hand against lower competition. On another team, Derick Brassard was just flying. Very, very accurate passer to go with his creativity and a natural smooth skater. He'll be a good one).

Anyway, I'd like O'Sullivan but I doubt it is Gainey's type of move to get a player like him at this time of year. Just doubtful to me.

It looks like a possible backup plan to Sundin

Sully is an integral part of the Kings rebuild. Having said that Kings management has said they are looking for a defenseman who is in their mid to late 20s...If Komi is not involved, I don't think we'll have a trade.

Yeah well it makes no sense why the Kings would want to trade him. But at the same times there are quite a few things that have made no sense so far this summer.

I don't see how giving up Komi for that third centre we need would help this team right now.... I don't see the deal happening if its for Komi.

That's a trade that accomplishes nothing...you fill one hole and create another. The whole point of another offensive center is so you don't have Lapierre Laraque or Chipchura there.

I agree, I don't see why we should go for this guy. Our focus should be on a number 1 center, not on a one dimensional small forward.
