smartest thing I have read on here thus far.

Cammellari was let go because O'Sullivan will replace his scoring and has a defensive element to his game. So much so that he became one of the Kings best PK options by seasons end. O'Sullivan can play all three forward positions and busts his butt everynight. He was labled as lazy coming into the orginization but after doing some research and finding out where he came from you realize that is far from true.

Some Kings fans (not I) believe his upside is higher then Kopitar. If he is leaving the Kings it wont be 2nd round picks coming back, it will be an established player, probably a package for a guy like Komisarek or J-BO (which I don't think happens either.

O'Sullivan is a guy Lombardi lists as the core to this team. I do not believe he will be let go. He started to really bring it last year at both ends of the ice, has been a huge scorer in every league and is nowhere near his prime. Would you trade a guy like this for 2 2nds? NO

Our real need is on the back end...and if the right defenseman (or other type of package) is offered...DL will jump on the deal... Other than that...I don't see him going anywhere...

Since you guys aren't moving Komisarek (and who can blame you), I don't think there is a deal to be made here.

Also, I think the Kings match any offer up to $3.9M a season, and I doubt that O'Sullivan gets an offer sheet that high from anyone. I base this opinion on the idea that the Kings were probably willing to hang on to Cammalleri if he would have signed a 4 year deal for around $4M a season. In Lombardi's eyes (and mine too) O'Sullivan >>>> Cammalleri, so the Kings might have to overpay a little on this guy, but he is worth hanging onto. I see him as having the potential to be a consistent 30 goal scorer if he plays on Kopitar's wing along with Brown.

I agree that they aren't a good match. The biggest reason though is the fact O'Sullivan isn't and upgrade in talent or size at the C position. PLekanec and Koivu are both only an inch smaller and less then 5 pounds lighter. O'Sullivan does not fit for the habs. Habs need a big 6'3 200 pounds plus C.

O'Sullivan is a C, why would he flank Kopitar?

KINGS17 is correct about O'Sullivan's position; O'Sullivan played part of last season on Kopitar's wing. He now plays either C or W but was most effective last season when he and Brown flanked Kopitar, which in my opinion was the best Kings #1 line combo of the season.

Go back and read post #59 in this thread. You're way off base about O'Sullivan.

sully plays on the wing with kopitar...and you're right, don't see a deal here.

He played some centre last year and in the minors... if brought to montreal he'd be the natural person to move to centre as we have plenty of wingers and not enough offensively skilled centres.

That said, I don't see the deal happening here either. The needs of each of the two teams do not match with the expendable parts of the other team.

Edit... the shanahan stuff is in the shanahan thread.

Ummm, just because TSN or ESPN or whatever list him as a C doesn't mean he's a C. It means he can play C. There are tons of examples, including Straka, Demitra, Kozlov all of which are often listed as C's but hate playing C.

you want a big center with untapped potential we will send you Boyle for Latendresse. Makes about as much sense as the other proposals on here.

If we're giving up Sully, Komisarek better be on a plane to LA.

Oh trust me, If want to see elite teams I will stick to watching the Kings games against the Pacific division, not some tier 2 NE Divisional games.

Just wondering, do you realize that you are posting this on the Habs board?

The trade makes no sense for L.A. They are a rebuilding team why would they get rid of one of their best forwards?

Fixed.

You do realize Habs finished 1st in Scoring last season right?. That's ahead of Detroit that plays in the 2nd weakest division in the league.
