You can't trade Rozsival before he's played a game on his new contract, at least you can't if you want any more UFAs to come to NY

LA is so far away from the cap floor because they only have like 15 guys under contract. Kopitar is also due to be an RFA next season, so they may set aside cap space for him as well.

LA is LOADED with picks next year. They have THIRTEEN draft picks in one of the 'deepest drafts ever' (), so I don't foresee them taking picks from us, more like roster players.

However, nobody seems to know how that team is being run over there. By most accounts the Kings brass knows nothing about building a team.

I really like the Rozsival + Prucha for Sully+, but I don't think Slats resigned Rozsival just to trade him.

Also, I wonder if Eklund just reads this site for 'rumors.' I mentioned O'Sullivan last night in another thread and this morning his name was up on Eklunds site. Seems odd.

And it puts a gigantic hole in the defense. I'm not ready to think that Preissing is a good substitute for Rozsival

True. I also failed to mention that the "+" I was referring to in "Sully+" was Jack Johnson.

O'Sullivan
Brian Boyle

for

1st in 2010
2nd in 2009
Ryan Callahan
Nigel Dawes
Greg Moore

probably a quantity for quality but something like that would be awesome.

That's a fleecing even with the picks IMO.

Maybe they don't know how bad Jessiman is yet.

Dubinsky, Callahan, Prucha + 1st 2010

O'Sullivan, Boyle + Calgary's 2nd 09

Trading dubinsky? come on, we have a commitment to youth here, we traded tyutin and montoya, but both of those players were deemed expendable, what are we saying if we trade away dubinsky a rookie who had a great season last year to other kids? I don't see dubinsky moving anytime soon

All this talk of trading rozsival is nonsense, he was our best defensemen two seasons ago and was our best at times this past season. If sather trades anyone it will be one of the three smaller forwards in prucha/dawes/cally. I prefer prucha, he has the biggest contract, has the most value, and to me is not a 2nd liner but doesn't fit well on our 3rd line

If we make a deal for O'sullivan expect it to be dawes/cally/prucha, hollweg, and a pick or maybe sub out hollweg for moore or a prospect

But our defense is set

redden-staal
rozsival-girardi
kalinin-mara

We will not be trading any of these 6 so I wouldn't bother making suggestions

I'd love to trade rozsival for pronger... but that is nhl2k09 crap

o'sullivan is the only player who will most likely be available.....

callahan
prucha
2nd 09

o'sullivan

i believe thats pretty fair value....two nhl players who play girtty(callahan is better at it) and a 2nd rounder in a very deep draft....if they are trying to rebuild it makes sense

I would absolutely love that trade...but in his call-up last year Boyle showed that he is already (at least) a great 3rd line center. IMO his potential right now is on-par with Dubinsky.

I don't see Roszival or Dawes being traded. We didn't sign Rozy to a 20 million dollar contract just to trade him. And Dawes has already shown that he can play well with the team, especially on the same line as Gomez.

If we are gonna make a trade like this, Prucha is almost certainly one of the guys traded. Prucha, Hollweg, 2nd round pick/ or a good prospect.

However this trade seems pretty unlikely considering all the cap space the Kings have.

Prucha (1.6), Rissmiller (1), Hollweg (.5) and Sauer (.8) for O'Sullivan

that would help them get to the floor anyway, but I doubt they'd accept it

That's a very fair trade all-around value wise IMO (Dubinsky's value is slightly higher than Boyle's; O'Sullivan + 2nd's is slightly higher than Prucha + Cally + 1st's). That said I don't think LA does it because for them the move is lateral at best; unless they are having trouble signing Sully or have some fixation on one of the Rangers offered, I don't see how this really makes them much better.

Prucha, Dawes, 2nd?

Would I have to add more?

I'd rather stick with Dawes then deal with this. Why does everyoen not like Dawes anyways
Because O'Sullivan is better than Dawes, and has a higher ceiling to boot?

A commitment to youth, yes, but it's not as if we'd be moving Dubinsky for Chris Chelios or something.

That deal gives you two forwards with 25+ goal upside, both of whom are only 23 years old. I love Dubinsky, but you have to give to get. Not to mention O'Sullivan has expanded his skillset from a strictly offensive sniper role to a two-way forward with the ability to kill penalties as effectively as he can score goals. He fits our new system to a t.

Boyle is a 6'6 222lb forward who can also play defense. He scored 4 goals and had 1 assist in 8 games this year. He could easily replace Dubinsky in our lineup.

Well they are rumored to be having some problems signing him. But you never know what these GM's are thinking.

Heres a thread from the LAK forum where they talk about O'Sullivans skill set:

O'Sullivan would be a great asset to any team. Although as someone posted above me, he would be a phenomenal fit to the system we have in place right now. Young, fast, gritty, two-way player. It's a match made in heaven.

NOT A CHANCE

Slats made his bed signing a crappy dman like Rozsival to an outragous contract, he can live with it.

Prucha is decent but either a one hit wonder or snakebit, Ranger fans need to give him a year on a scoring line with PP time to see what you really have before throwing it away. His value at thistime is in the gutter.

You want Sully, start with a Dubinsky or a Girardi in your offers. Remeber your getting a second year, 3 position forward who excelled offensively at every level he has been in. He vastly improved his defense last year to the point he was one of the Kings best PK players and played most the year with a struggling Handzus. He will be a PPG player in this league.
