Amount Compensation Due
$863,156 or less None
$863,156 - $1,307,811 3rd round pick
$1,307,881 - $2,615,623 2nd round pick
$2,615,623 - $3,923,434 1st and 3rd round pick

$5,231,246 - $6,539,061 Two 1st's, one 2nd, one 3rd round pick
$6,539,061 or more Four 1st round picks

It might be worth it to try and get him in that range between 2.6 and 3.9MM .. Detroit might likely match, but I'd have to really think about paying a 1st and 3rd for him..
No one's giving up a first rounder in next year's draft unless they are a LOCK to be a non-lottery team.

I don't see us being Tavares-bound lousy GP. That first round pick will be somewhere in the mid to upper teens (I think we actually sneak into the postseason this year UNLESS we trade Bouw) .. This years' draft from what I understand is top heavy and not very deep..

Maybe, maybe not. I don't think it's a sure thing that we're not in the bottom 5, only likely and that chance, IMO, is enough that you don't deal the pick and risk that it's Viktor Kozlov all over again.

And his signing could bring Gaborik in the following year. Supposedly they're great friends.

That would be awesome!!! Our future lineup of forwards which can be interchangeable of course depending on how fast some players develop!

Gaborik-Demitra-Horton
Booth-Weiss-Olesz
Frolik-Matthias-Stillman
McLean-Kreps-Campbell

I would love to get Gaborik down in Florida. Well if MG doesnt want to be in Min anymore, and wants to test the market, chances are he will have a new home, so I say we should make a big push for him. If its true that Gaborik and Demitra are good friends, and if we did land Demitra, maybe that could be really help us in getting him down here. I am not going to hold my breath though.

If the Panthers can stay the course long enough to become a credible franchise again, we won't need to rely on players "bringing in their friends" (which never ends up happening, except Olli getting JM to sign Peltonen to keep him happy).

Thats true, but it never hurts to add a guy like Gaborik to your lineup.

I'm just saying it's unlikely to happen just because of Demitra.

The more I think about Nagy the more I'm intrigued. Like RCGP mentioned, he "might" be a cheap signing, what with his history of games missed due to injuries. No doubt this guy does have a world of talent and, IF we could keep him healthy he'd be a large part of the answer to the burning question of "where's the scoring gonna come from?"

Maybe he'd accept a conditional contract with a fair base salary that's equally weighted with bonus money based on games played.

How about Fedorov to fill the C. void for one-two year contract, maybe incentive laden (ie. Gary Roberts contract). A vet. who I thought fit in well with the young Russian's on Wash.

That's if they don't want to spend on Sundin/Morrison type.

i don't see that happening. he's a high profile guy and he's coming off a really good finish with WAS - going to get a lot of money too. someone's going to overpay quite a bit. i like the idea of demitra much better.

you mean, truly WAS the perfect first line center. he retired (again) anyway, didn't he? no way i'd take a chance on him.

no he played last season with the avs. i dont remember him retiring. anyways he might have been the avs best player in the playoffs before he got injuried which happens way too much he prob. was there best player cuz he was also pretty fresh from not playing the whole season.

but he'd make a lot of open space for a guy like horton.

he's still a top 3 foward if healthy which is a big IF

Just read on Spector's that Tampa Bay is shopping Jokinen & Ouellet to try & get a 2nd round pick in next years draft for one of them. If a 2nd round pick is all it would take why not get Jussi Jokinen. He is not that bad a player & we would still have a Jokinen playing for us next year ironically!

I would love to have Jussi Jokinen on the Panthers, he would be a great addition. A 2nd round pick might be alot though seeing as how deep the draft is as everyones mentioned. I mean last year Huet went for just a 2nd round pick and I think the next draft is supposed to be even better. But it might be beneficial to give it up, we need some returns now instead of always building for the future.

Jussi jokinen is also good at shootouts , so if anything he could help us win games by being our shootout specialist

I'm pretty content with our roster, maybe trade an additional d for a forward... but even if we dont having a frolik or repik start for us wouldnt be the worst thing... I am pretty excited about them, and I know we all dont want to rush them but not all forwards start in the ahl...
