I'm pretty sure he wants a two year contract around $2 million a season. Not worth it IMO, even though he a had a good season last year. A two year contract, as ridiculous as it may sound, is too risky for a 36 year old.
Last I heard he wanted a deal similiar to the Tucker deal. So about 2 years for a little over 2 million a year. Sutter only wants to give him one year. Is he worth it? I would say for one year definetly. More than that though and I wouldn't do it.
Sutter said he and Nolan's agent "continue to talk" but he doesn't want to go beyond a one-year deal for a veteran player and is "not going to overpay to fill that spot."
I take it as the Flames would welcome back Nolan for another season, really the ball is in Owen court.
So he signs with the Wild for 2 years at 5.5 million. Would have loved to have him back, but not for that long and that much money a year. The Wild definetly overpaid for him.

Agreed. I wouldn't have had a huge problem bringing him back for 2 years, but the money is a little much. But the Flames really need to find a second line winger, be it a LW or RW. Gotta get someone for Lombardi to play with.

Yeah, if that's what it would take to get Nolan back, good on Sutter for passing on it.
I wish Nolan all the best. It was great having him on this team, even if it was only one season.
Second-most ridiculously inflated contract of the summer. First place goes to Finger.
Finger, to his credit, won't turn 55 before his contract is up. Finger has a future. Nolan stopped having a future around the lockout. And that's being very generous.

He was our 2nd best player against the Sharks in the playoffs...
