Well, it's over...

I'm not quite sure how to feel right now.

I can't say I feel bad for the Flames, but it would have been nice to see it go to a Canadian team.

Either way, Tampa fully deserves this. An excellent series. To see Andreychuk finally get his Cup, and young guys like Richards and Lecavalier get their first of what could be many, is pretty nice.

The only bad part - Oilers pick 25th instead of 24th. That I can live with.

Well, there are more canadian players on Tampa Bay roster than on Calgary's. Actually (hope I'm not wrong) they have the most canadians in NHL.

Tampa Bay deserves the Stanley, they have a terrific team and are well coached. How good are those guys up the middle? MAN they're strong at center!

Feel bad for the Flames, but honestly they seemed to flag at the exact moment they needed to go that extra mile.

Have to feel good for a guy like Andreychuk, and even Pratt. And for the millionth time, how much was the Bulin wall asking from the Coyotes?

Whatever it was, they sure as hell should hve paid it.

I feel great. Tampa is a great team. And, yes LT, they are sure stacked at center. That 4th line of Cibak, Dingman and Clymer will probably go unheralded... but I thought they were brilliant in the series providing energy whenever the team needed it. Congratulations Tampa.

In fairness to the Yotes, Khabibulin was an out of shape chain-smoker who really loved his coffee...

And since going to Tampa Bay, he's really changed his lifestyle adding some trained athletecism to his naturally athletic self, and he's changed into a top end goaltender. He was always a good goalie, but he always ran out of gas... that isn't the case, or at least it wasn't this year.

Me too.
There is one other "bad part" tho.
It could be quite a while before we see NHL hockey again.
However, since Calgary doesn't own the CUP, this is a little easier for me to swallow.

Way to go Tampa Bay!!!
Congratulations on winning the hardest trophy to win in professional sports!!!

Sort of sad though, in the end talent had a lot to do with the cup winner. If the effort is a saw off then talent usually prevails and it did this year. A strong team and some game breakers appears to be the formula...sure no problem...we'll get right on that. Tampa did a great job getting Richards at 62nd overall in his draft year and nabbing St. Louis. They went out and got these guys a goalie and some veterans and bammo, Stanley is theirs.

I have a feeling the name Jarome Iginla will be on the cup one day.

I have that feeling too, but not as a Calgary Flame.

I'm pretty happy. My 2nd favorite team won the cup (not really a favorite, just a team that has a bunch of really good hockey players who play the game right on it) and those losers lost again just like I always said they would.........losers.

Also, it helps when guys you said had the goods 3+ years ago like Freddy Modin, Vinny, Brad Richards, Pavel Kubina and Ruslan Fedotenko deliver so big in the clutch. Vinny was the definition of a superstar tonight. He won that game. Friggin AMAZING.

The only thing that I really liked in this whole series was when Khabibulin shut the Flames out in game 4 after Chris Simon's poor display of sportsmanship at the end of game 3.

I've got no problem with guys trash talking during the game, but after scoring a goal or especially at the end of the game it's so utterly classless.

Congratulations to the Stanley Cup Champions, Tampa Bay Lightning. Does this seem a bit strange to anyone else? It is great to see a new team win Lord Stanley's Mug. They are truly deserving champions.

Although it is not popular to say on this forum, I have gained alot of respect for Calgary in their improbable run to the Cup Final. This team benefitted from a great GM and motivating coach in Daryl Sutter. Every trade Sutter made was golden and built an honest hockey team with was seldom outworked and simply believed it could win.

Well, this is taking quite a bit of alcohol to get over, may as well shut down the city tommorrow, no works getting done here, I hope there aren't any water leaks cause I sure ain't heading to work, but hey, its all good, great series, great playoff, great year, great everything really. I hope there's next year. Let's go WC.

I hope that made some sort of sense. I need a drink.

it was only a matter of time before they lost. Carolina-Anaheim-Calgary, next nhl season calgary will be back to normal out of a playoff position. I'd put money on it to.

It pisses me off when you get Calgary fans talking like they have this elite team now, but I know only time will put them back in their places.

Its gonna be so funny, next season Calgary's gonna lose probably half their fans.

It wouldn't be that much of a surprise. All those teams were predicated on great goaltending along with a great team defense. However, the fact remains is that the regular season reffing doesn't allow team to get away with that. All the hooking and holding in the playoffs whether on the forecheck or the neutral zone is deemed "obstruction". And we all know those teams are better 5 on 5 than special teams...

All it takes is the goaltending to struggle slightly or the defense unable to adapt to the regular season "defense" and the playoffs could very well end up out of reach.
