Voted White again. I gotta say, he already has the NHL frame, and is showing all kinds of 2nd line (or better?) centre potential after 4 years in the WHL. And I fully expect him to play a huge role in Hamilton next year.

Now, have people seen enough of this 18 year old Kristo to say that his skills, potential, and a comparison to Afinogenov are enough to rank higher than White at this point?

I'm not saying I couldn't agree. I'm just saying I need a little enlightenment.

That's part of the trouble. Nobody knows anything about the guy. He'll fall on this ranking, but next year no doubt he'll be top 10 solely because he's a recent 2nd round pick.

Its a 3 horse race between Whitey, D'Ago and Kristo!

This poll is making me realize that even with the loss of Price and Kostitsyn, we still have a great little list of prospects! Thanks TT!!

Could anyone give us any good info, and justifications as to why Kristo would be higher on the list than D'Agostini or White? I don't want to argue I just want some info on him and to know why he would be better than those two.

People like to overrate new prospects, it's the new flare of the day syndrome.

I voted Kristo and i have never seen him play. The reason is that he's a grinder, he skates realy fast, he puted goos numbers, he's the best under 18 american player, he looks like a smart kid. But that's only what i've read on HF boards and other reports, he just look like my kind of player, but i have never seen him play, neither White, but i will vote for White as the 13th rookie. If i would vote only for those i have seen play i could only vote for OB, Stuart, Halak, Dag, Subban, Webber, Pac, Macdo, Fortier, Carle, Valenteno and Fisher.

I would guess that if people put him higher it's because they feel his upside is higher then the others. For me I can't say cause I barely followed the USNDTP, but I do know that he is considered one of the top prospects on the team along with his good buddy Jordan Schroder who is slated to go high in the '09 draft (will be a freshman at Minnesota next year so i'll see a ton of him)

Personally I've heard Timmins really likes Kristo so I would think he's got good upside. I won't see too much of him next year but the following year I will see a good bit of him.

I like White a lot though, just concerned about his lack of speed but we'll see how it goes for him in hamilton. D'Ago I also like a lot so we'll see what he can do.

On a side note, for David Fischer, next year is going to be a big one for him as he will need to be one of the leaders on defense since they will have only 2 upperclassmen on defense, Fischer and flyers draft pick RJ Anderson. So the team is looking like it's going to have a weak D and will need big things out of Fischer who should benefit from a lot of ice time.

It should be based on upside and potential not when they were drafted. This time last year, would you have said Pacioretty shouldn't be ranked over White because he was just drafted?

They will have a couple of good freshman at defense however: Aaron Ness (NYI) and two USNDT boys : Grant Scott and Sam Lofquist... But I agree, Fischer will have to be the leader of this young defense core. I expect big minutes and a place on the first PP unit with Ness for David.

About Kristo, I did see him play and I like his upside, but I also think hes a pretty safe pick, Mike Keane kind of guy imo.

Yea I know about the incoming d, but Ness is 17 and it's hard to say how he will handle the bigger stronger players. I've seen Ness a couple time and really like the way he plays, Minnesota really lacks offensive skill on the blueline so getting him should be interesting.

On the top PP unit should be Fairchild (blues pick) as he was on the top PP unit last year as a freshman and he has good skills with the puck. Not sure if they will go with a forward on the point again or not as they did that with Ben Gordon last year, leaving Fischer for the 2nd PP unit.

I do wonder if Carle could see some games next season if injuries hit. I can't see him making the team as a 7th D cause it's not a good move for his development imo, as he needs to play and play a LOT. Gainey said he wouldn't bring Valentenko up as a 7th D, and he was clearly better then Carle imo, so I would guess that Gainey feels the same way about not having Carle as the 7th D.

With the way Valentenko played last year I could see him getting some games in but I don't know about Carle who has bigger holes in his game as his defensive game needs improvement, he's got to get stronger and make better decisions. That said we lack strong puck movers on defense and Carle can dish the puck well for sure. I like what I saw from his offensive game this past year and look forward to seeing what he can do with another year in Hamilton. I wouldn't rush him and he's got some interesting skills so if he can start to put it all together he becomes a more interesting prospect.
