OT: Calgary above cap - Trading opportunity?

I believe Calgary just went above this year cap.

Something got to give.

Could it be that they will trade Aucoin? That's my first suspicion. (I certainly do not want him on our team).

Anyone worth trying to get?

Added this analysis: Matthew Lombardi
I briefly looked at the forwards on the flames side... and I see one potential target: Matthew Lombardi. I don't know him much I have to say.

But it appears that he went through what I call the Keenan factor.... What I love about Keenan is whenever he ends up on a team, he smashes some talent that doesn't fit his rough and tough style and find a way to have the GM trade it away. That's how we got Tanguay.

Matthew Lombardi had a season of 20 goals, 46 points, and +10 as a 25 year old center prior to Keenan. He went down to 14 goals, 36 points and -6 under his reign.

The cap space hit is 1.8 millions. He is supposedly very fast, and obviously has some real skills since he had a season of 57 goals, and 130 points in the Q... Oh, he is from Montreal. Decent faceoff % of 47%.

If we don't sign Sundin, he could be a nice option.

Unless they got Bertuzzi for only half a million. They had 0.521 left before the signing.

According to TSN, he signed a 1.95 million contract. They are over the cap.

Calgary Flames sign UFA forward Todd Bertuzzi to a one-year, $1.95 million contract.

Adrian Aucoin is with the Flames, makes 4 Mil, forget it!.

I don't know, maybe Conroy is the odd man out at 1.1 Million & should be easy to trade, hey he's a center....

Phillie is also over the cap and signed Asham. They might get cap money freed up due to Rathje and Gagne.

Calgary is in an interesting situation.

I personally do not see any players that the habs could get, well maybe Yelle but I think that is it. They will have to make some trades though

Whoa, Philly is almost 3.9 Million over, somethings gotta give!

Edit: Yeah that's right, there is injury relief.

Yelle is UFA, so he's already off their books.

Calgary doesn't have much depth up front...after Iginla Langkow and Cammelleri, who will play on their 2nd line? Conroy? Primeau? Bourque? Lombardi? Obviously Bertuzzi will play on their 2nd.

We take Hatcher if they give us Vanriemsdyk along with him.

I think they get relief from Rathje's 3.5 mil.

Lombardi would be great on our 3rd line.

I guess they have no players of interest We can get hime for free but Gainey is finished so I guess we wait for Sundin.

Lombardi would be awesome but his cap hit is only 1.817, so that wouldn't give them much relief. I'm not sure what they are going to do.

Lombardi would be the most interesting player & he's from Montreal, but I seriously doubt the Flames would move him.

Agreed, he could put up 45-50 points with S.Kostystyn and Higgins/Latendresse and help on PK. I guess it depends on what they would be asking in return...

rhett warrener + a pick to some team for a pick in return.

That's enough to take them below the cap by roughly 400k.

Keenan was involved in some many trade that saw players go, that shouldn't have gone. First one that comes to mind is Luongo. I am suggesting Lombardi because it follows the Keenan pattern, a lost in production... just like Tanguay.
