Stop the clocks, cut off the telephone

I think I'm finally done with the NHL.. last night's result has thrown me into depression. I know they were the better team complete with some exciting players like Vinny and Brad. However, how could we have let the NHL game detiorate so much that Tampa Bay win the Stanley Cup... I am just lost for words.

The NHL that I have followed for 20+ years has come to this. Thank God for the WHL...

Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone,

Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone,

Silence the pianos and with muffled drum

Bring out the coffin, let the mourners come.

Let aeroplanes circle moaning overhead

Scribbling on the sky the message "He is Dead",

Put crÍpe bows round the white necks of the public doves,

Let the traffic policeman wear black cotton gloves.

He was my North, my South, my East and West,

My working week and Sunday rest,

My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song;

I thought that love would last forever: I was wrong.

The stars are not wanted now: put out every one;

Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun;

Pour away the ocean and sweep up the wood.

For nothing now can ever come of any good.

I have a feeling the rant-poem wouldn't be different if any of the latest run expansion teams (except for Minny) won the cup...

Does it really matter where the franchise is located?

I guess you wouldn't be posting this topic (assuming you're being serious here) if all of Tampa's players played for a team that's home is in the northern part of NA.

In the words of Martin St. Louis - "I don't really care."

Tampa deserves the Cup...Tampa is full of players from all different countries who earned the Cup...get over it...let's see the NHL contract back to the Original 6 and see how much you like that.

I hate to break it to you bad teams are not always going to be bad, and Good teams or historical teams won't always be good. Not everybody wants to see a Detriot, Colorado, Toronto or even Calgary win. A lot of people like to see new teams win the cup that never have won before. Frankly I hope Vancouver wins next year, if not then Ottawa but only if there is a season of course.

Would you like some cheese with that whine? Oh wait, your post was filled with cheese too. Or maybe you'd like a WHAAA-mburger, with a side of cries.

The point of having a hockey team is to win the Stanley Cup. Everyone is allowed to win it, regardless of where the team is situated, or what whiny fans disagree.

A bit of an overreaction, NO? And shouldn't the moderators be on you for plagerism? If it isn't your poem - source should be acknowledged. What? do you think you are the only literate hockey fan?

Seriously....I got quite sick of hearing that throughout the playoffs....'Nobody knows what hockey is in Tampa Bay'....many times during the game they cut out to outside the arena and it was mobbed with people who couldn't get in, watching the game on a screen.....looked like a lot of people who know what hockey is to me.

It's a victory for hockey. What better way to win NEW fans? The sport is going to die if it can't do that simple thing. It's also a victory for Canada. We have 14 Canadians on the Bolts, if that doesn't speak to your dominance of hockey nothing does.
