What is PLan B

In the event that BG dosn't come to term with Sundin what should we do and who would be your target:

Chris Gratton
http://forecaster.cbc.ca/cbc/hockey/player.cgi?1141
Tough 3rd liner with some skills 1.5M/ 2 years

Randy Robitaille
http://forecaster.cbc.ca/cbc/hockey/player.cgi?400
Jack of all trades can fix many kind of holes probably 1.9M /1Year

Jason Williams
http://forecaster.cbc.ca/cbc/hockey/player.cgi?2006
Great Number... but can he keep the pace 3.5M / 2-3years

Pavol Demitra
http://forecaster.cbc.ca/cbc/hockey/player.cgi?453
Great passer... not the toughest guy outhere probably over 5M / 3 years

Peter Forsbergh
http://forecaster.cbc.ca/cbc/hockey/player.cgi?816
The Hail Mary AKA Pay & Pray your call but probably 5M/ 2 years

Fix from within using either and see what happens
Maxime Lapierre
http://forecaster.cbc.ca/cbc/hockey/player.cgi?3520
Kyle Chipchura
http://forecaster.cbc.ca/cbc/hockey/player.cgi?4536

Other (PLease Specifie)

I always liked Gratton, not sure if there is room for him on this team though.

How much of an upgrade on Chichura would you be getting with Gratton or Holik? I prefer a guy with skill, obviously Sundin is plan A. Plans B to E are guys like Demitra, Williams, O'sullivan maybe Shanahan.

Once Sundin says yes or no, if there are no good UFA's or good trades to be made, you can always start the year with Higgins or Chichura as your #3 centerman and go from there.

I think if we are unable to sign Sundin. Gainey will start the season with our current roster and see how that plays out. If he's unhappy then he will decide to make a trade.

You know what. If Sundin decides to call it quits I would prefer signing back Smolinski for one more year. We know what he can bring to the team and his cap hit won't be too high.

If not sundin .. Demitra could be a good plan B

If we sign another UFA we will need to get rid of someone :

tanguay - sundin - ak27
ak46 - plekanec - sk74
higgins - koivu - tender
Laraque - Chipchura - (Bégin, Lapierre, Kostopoulos, Dandenault .. ?!)

p.s.: lines were just put there in no order

A. Kostitsyn - Plekanec - Kovalev
Tanguay - Koivu - S. Kostitsyn
Higgins - DANDENAULT - Latendresse
Laraque - Begin - Kostopoulus

I think that if Sundin is not signed, Gainey will star the season as is and make a move at some point.

Sundin is Plan A Through Z for me...

Lapierre or Chipchura can be a decent 3/4 center and if not then Gainey could acquire someone through trade in the regular season.

If not Sundin, then go after Federov.

I agree. Federov, if Sundin is not available.

Don't know if he'd be ready for a 3rd line duty and specially 3rd line salary... he's just coming out of a BIG $$$ contact and finishing the year with AO Might have raised is perception of is own value... and maybe some GM perception as well... therefore he's probably looking for a 4 to 4.5 M a year deal... wich might be a bit too much... unless we play him 2nd line time and roll with 3 lines for most games.

ak46 - plekanec - ak27
tanguay - koivu - sk74
higgins - Federov - tender
Laraque - Chipchura - (Bégin, Lapierre, Kostopoulos, Dandenault .. ?!)

Yeah it would work very well... but would probably end up being too much paid in the end

I wouldn't mind Forsberg for a year, but he might want more than that...

If we dont get Sundin, BG will look for a trading partner to land a big centre

I don't think there is a plan B. I think it's Sundin or nothing, though I wouldn't mind Forsberg after getting a doctor's extensive examination.

I think Plan B is being patient and wait for a good opportunity (if needed) to get better.

HUm... I'd at least prefer to use either Chipper or Lappy there
