As for plan B...it's Sundin or no one from free agency. Gainey might explore trade options (as our cupboard is stock full of goodies) but I'm pretty comfortable with the roster we have right now.

He didn't say it was likely to happen... but if the guy's a UFA, we don't have anything to lose by calling and letting him know we'd be interested.

We already made a few moves and in my opinion are roster is set. We have more youngster on are way up. I like the team we have. Having sundin sign with us would just be a bonus.

I say we get Sakic, Forsberg and Sundin in Habs jerseys.

Michel Goulet and Peter Stasny too.

It's not enough that the Nords are no more. We shall destroy their memory!!!!!!!!!

Mr. Loyalty once signed an offersheet with the Rangers..... One that was very difficult for the Avs to match at the time, and it was thought he would be a Ranger.

Offer him 15mill for two years... the worst he can say is no.

It's a nice thought I suppose but I can't see Sakic uprooting himself and his family to come to Montreal from Colorado at this point in his life and career.

I'm happy with the team we have right now.

Tanguay is a 80-point player, not the 60-point player he's been under Mike Keenan. I feel he's going to have a great season with us and will even have more points than Kovalev. Tanguay is a huge addition IMO. Of course I'd love Sundin too, but I can live with what we have right now. We're not improved, but our young players like Higgins, Kostitsyn and co. will be.

there's always the trade deadline.

Sundin will be a Habs ... and Leafs Nation will need a ton of prozac this year.

If we don't sign Sundin, we will re-sign Smolinski. He was great for us down the stretch and in the playoffs, his line was our best line in the Boston series. Gainey also said that he might keep Smokes around in a press conference a while back.

I may be wrong and we might not re-sign him....but I don't think it is a bad idea to bring Smokes back if Sundin doesn't sign.

If we don't get Sundin, I'm willing to take a shot at the dark at Forsberg.

We have the cap room, if Forsberg is injured, which he will be, we'd come in with the same four centers we would've without Forsberg.

Plan B is to get another top 4 Dman. Forget the offense, we already have a better line up than last year up front but if we want to be contenders another top 4 D is a MUST.

If Plan A (Sundin) is unavailable I can't think of any Plan B. Even a deadline trade wouldn't make sense because of its potential effect on the salary cap for the next 2 years, when the contracts of a number of key Habs have to be renewed. I'd wait it out and hope that a prospect or two makes the team the way S. Kostitsyn and O'Byrne did last season.

It's pretty safe to say that not all of today's Habs will still be on the team next July.
