Congrats to Dave Andreychuk

So Tampa won. They beat my guy Kiprusoff, but I am glad to see Andreychuk finally get the Cup.

I was hoping for #23 pick, I guess it is more likely now that we move up.

As silly as it seems, I was hoping for that #23 pick. It would be a slightly more valuable trade chip to either move up or down, or it would have a slightly better selection of talent available to use. I know the difference is marginal, but I wanted it.

But, it was a great playoff year that was not decided until literally 2 seconds were on the clock in game 7 of the finals.

When is the draft? Is it two saturdays from now?

so the question is: will this be the last hockey game we see for a very long time?

The Bolts won, but the most important question is does anyone really care?

Not to rain on the parade {and obviously for fear of "trolling" I wouldn't say it on their board} but this is kind of why this sport can't catch a break. Aside from Hulk Hogan, everyone jumped on the train late and is just as likely to jump off when the lockout hits. That much can already be seen by their overwhelming excitement on their own board.

However two things have likely come out of this that affect the Rangers.

1. Hiring a young coach who doesn't make excuses CAN and WILL work.

2. Building through the draft has it's rewards if you do it the right way.

Maybe because most Tampa fans are out partying and celebrating. Why is it bad for a team like Tampa to win for a change? Isn't anybody getting sick of same 3 teams (Devils, Avs and Red Wings) winning the Cup?

hiring ANY competent head coach...

young, old, etc. will work for the rangers at this point. the next person the rangers hire HAS to be better than the campbell-old muckler-lowe-trottier-even older sather debacles we have been witness to over the last 10 years. as i've been thinking since the season ended, sather cannot possibly screw up this head coaching search. there are so many candidates with quality track records of sustained success at any level that it is virtually impossible for sather to screw up this hire.

but then again, as always will be the case with sather, never count out the stupidity factor with him...

p.s.- as for the lightning and their fans, congrats to them, and considering how many bars and strip clubs are in the ybor city district where the arena is, certainly the posters should be given a pass on this night...or tomorrow night...or the rest of this week...

I really don't see any reason to bash Tampa Bay fans because they are not sitting alone at their computer posting on some hockey board. My friends and I sat around basking in the glow until 2am on the night the Rangers won--I couldn't imagine kicking them out to hang out on the internet.

LOL do you honestly believe the Lightening fans are out partying till 2 am for a hockey championship.

Hockey Championships get about as much recognition in Florida as the World Series did in Arizona {where the newspaper had to remind fans into the playoffs the rules of the game}.

No one is expecting a 15 page paper written about winning the championship but there was NOTHING there....at all.

I talked to a buddy of mine down there and even he said "the people down here as a whole just don't get it".

And that beyond anything is a real shame.

I was thinking about this when I went over to their board the other night to look around. Our board is busy pretty much every day and our team isn't even playing, could you imagine this place if they were in the playoffs? It's part of the reason I love this team because the fans are truly dedicated.

The only thing I have to say about Tampa is atleast their victory parade will not be around a parking lot like in Jersey.

Congrats to them.

Lightning boards always seem to be the lightest on posting and regular members.

I can't remember where I read it but the Lightning had more Canadian boys than the Flames did. They also played more of the old school up tempo style hockey than the flames. Its good they won. I feel bad for Calgary because it would have been nice for them to win a cup but its good for hockey that the skill team won.

I suspect it may indeed be one of the last NHL hockey games we see for quite some time.

Both teams endured years of losing, used the draft to develop talent. Made a few deals along the way and capitalized on their strengths. Something the rangers with all their hockey "experts" have yet to grasp.

This explains why the board isn't celebrating...

Tampa Tribune says Bolts lost

Nobody knows they won!!
