Maybe the Thrashers and the Islanders should consider a merger into one team

If the Sedins are willing to sign extensions prior to the deal, I'd listen.

Interesting. But it's just another blog.

I expect Kovalchuk to be moved. But probably not until the deadline.

Wasn't this thread started, and subsequently locked, on the Canuck forum?

There use to be a great photoshop floating around of Kovulchuk as a NY Ranger. Now that would be something

Never seen that site before, but that'd be a pretty good deal for Vancouver and not so much for Atlanta. Canucks fans have seen the Sedin twins for years now and the offense hasn't exactly been spectacular with them in it, and it'd bring in a top tier goal scorer and legitimate franchise superstar for the fans to watch. Atlanta would lose the one last star they can really sell to the fans in Atlanta so I'm not sure what their motivation is to do that deal. The Sedin twins definitely don't carry the same marketing potential to convert people into new hockey fans as Kovalchuk does.

Interesting if true. Even if it's not legit, it's highly plausible if other parts go both ways in this deal. Hard to gauge for me because I've seen Kovalchuk too much and not enough of the Sedin twins. Whenever the Sedin twins are mentioned, I usually don't get all too excited. Not a testament to them I hope.

Aren't the Twins into Nascar though? Atl could market that to the fans

Rumors around Vancouver is that they want long term deals at around $5.5M each and will probably be signed once the Sundin situation is settled.

Now I love Kovalchuk and he's easily superior to either Sedin individually, but I have reservations about replacing essentially the Canucks only two legitimate top six forwards with just a single top six forward. The Canucks need to add more top six forwards, not subtract one.

Definitely, if Bieska is part of the deal the Thrashers would have to give up some prospects, picks, or a combination of both (I would think).

Yeah, this is an interesting rumor. Would be nice to see a blockbuster deal again. With all that said, I don't see Waddell keeps his job after moving Heatley & Kovalchuk. Let someone else come in and right the ship I say. Let someone else start over with the Sedin twins, Little, and whatever else that's in the cupboard. (if this is all true and a deal goes down)

If Don Waddell wants to go down in flames as he drives the Thrashers into the ground, that's a pretty way to seal the deal.

Sedins are not game breakers.

Kovalchuk is, and yes it makes a difference to have a player like that on the ice.

I don't know about Nascar, but they're into horse racing and in fact own their own racing horse.

Kovalchuk isn't a top six. He's a superstar imo.
