After Kosto saving our ***** in the playoffs I don't think he'll get the "Dandy" treatment.

half-way through the season you won't even remember the playoffs. Did you see anybody sticking up for Ryder last season because he scored a hat-trick against the Leafs in a final bid to make the playoffs the season before? If TK gets Dandy treatment, it'll be because he deserved it

If he deserves it, I'm all for it. I just don't think he should be automatically thought of as the odd man out. I think he should be given more credit is all.

Why?

Unproven goaltenders are pretty much worthless. Nobody wants Halak in this league. Even proven goaltenders are hard to trade.

The Bryzgalov example is a good one. He was far better than Halak is now, far more proven and far bigger. He was also waived.

That's is! this season anyone that ends up a healthy scratch in the press box, will be considered to be getting the "Dandy" treatment.

We still need a #7 defenceman on the roster. As it sits now, that's Dandy. If Dandy goes we need Brisebois back, or another cheap alternative. And even if Dandy stays, Gainey may want another defenceman.

At his age and the number of years he's been pro.. he needs to clear to be sent down.

Dandy at 1.8 vs Breezy at 700k..... I take breezy and the 1.1 million savings every time.

I bet if Breezer is healthy, he'll play the 100th Anniversary year at a bargain basement price. I doubt he'll go anywhere else as well. With Gorges and O'Byrne proving themselves last season, he'll mostly be a coach on skates.

Crap, I'd hate to say it, since one of the reason's I registered on the board last summer was to vent my disbelief in the Habs bringing back "breezer", but seasons change & opinions along with it. If we can somehow get rid of "dandys" horrible contract, I'd be all for "breeze bye" signing on for minimum to be our 7th D-Man. Boy, was that ever hard for me to say.

$1.8M for a 14th forward ... I like the speed and timely goals against the Bruins, but unfortunatly, he is a waste of money in Montreal. Don't need to be Einstein to realise that.

Seriously....I mean seriously....Why in bloody hell would Sundin even want to go there???? They have an awful team. AWFUL!!!!! Even 10 million bucks won't get him to play there....Sundin will sign with the habs if he signs anywhere else than Toronto. We have a great young team, good enough to bring him to the cup! Sundin will play in MTL, Tor or bust...Who else has the cap space AND is a contender???? Gainey knows that and he lets him breathe. Why sign any other pricey forward left??? Sundin is what we need...the rest would not really help that much...I say stick with him to the last minute. We have a great team anyways...

Bob is managing the money well so far

I'm not getting the negative comments on Price in this thread. At the start of the year if somebody told you we would lose in the second round after finishing first in the East with a rookie goalie and Huet traded. And that Price would get two shutouts in the playoffs. Would you call Price a bunch of names? Some folks are letting their expectations get in the way of rational thought

Price continues his career development. Halak gets some more starts now that Huet is gone. I think we are in great shape in net. And we are doing it with a cap hit of less than 2 mm a year for both total

I agree. TK did a good job for us all year after a lot of negative stuff early on because we didn't get a big UFA landed (sound familiar?).TK became the whipping boy.

I think Kostopolous deserves more respect than what some folks are giving him.

Don't worry, I did notice what he did in the playoffs, nothing personal, I was just pointing to the most likely candidates. And I also added 'to a lesser extent'

I agree, and I think Begin will be waived or traded because of it, barring a Sundin signing.

Halak

Care to make an estimate on how many starts he'll have this year?

I say 20 starts and he's traded by the deadline.

No offense Oleg, you're new here and you were a pretty decent hockey player considering your size, but this post belongs here

I don't know why people can't accept that this guy is part of our future.

We have one of the best backups in the NHL locked up for two years with a miniscule cap hit. Unlike with most backups I would in no way give up my hopes for the season if he was forced to become our starter. In fact, I look forward to seeing him play and hope to see him get around 25 games this season.

We have a ton of guys that need new contracts before next year; there's absolutely no reason to send away an affordable, excellent young goalie.
