No a joke would be cheering for a team that hasn't won a cup in 40 years.

Glad to see Recchi is coming back for another year. I just don't understand Tampa needing another forward.

Giving Finger 3.5 was a joke. The thread is more of a shot at the Leafs.

The Leafs went out of their way to say that Finger was Colorado's shut-down defender and clearly he wasn't. It would hard to judge Finger's work against Thornton based on such a small sample (2.9 and 3.3 min per in their final two meetings) and in all of the quotes I used Fletcher/Wilson were clearly emphasizing those performances as justification for the contract.

Jason Smith signed in Ottawa 2 years as per their board.

Also looks like Demitra signed in Vancouver for 3 years

So is the Demitra deal good or bad for us? Sundin might now see Vancouver as a better team.....but what does it do for them cap space wise...

As far as the teams that still didn't reach the "cap floor", isn't there any possibilities they see Dandenault as a good investment? Nearly 2 millions, which in their case would be good and he might actually be not that bad for them....

Let's go Gainey on the phone.....a 5th rounder next year will do......

IMO the Canucks are not a better team then us.Second if Sundin wanted to play in Vancouver he would have done the deal already IMO so Naslund would have stayed too.Demitra is not much of an upgrade on Naslund if you ask me

Adding Demitra takes them from 12th to 10th in the conference.

I don't see them being much better than last year just yet.

Yea, a team who miss the playoff last year, lost two of their top 6 forwards and replace them with Pavel ''Glass Canon'' Demitra is sure more attractive the a team who finish last season being first in his conference, first overall in scoring and who add a first line forward

Really does not matter. The Habs have the better team and quality players. A team that finished first in the conference, and has a core of youngsters like we have, should be more enticing that a team like Vancouver.

As for Dandy, ship him off to LA or ATL so they can reach the salary floor. I think the former is also the logical spot for Khabibulin.

Obviously not the intention nor the point I was trying to make. But for Sundin, if he's already enclined to go to Vancouver, adding a player like Demitra who's still not a bad player, make them a better team then they were prior to the acquisition. You know, the same logic that we use when we add a player has to be for the other teams too. But then what does it do to their salary cap.

And I love how people keeps repeating that we finished 1st as if we finished Detroit style like 30 points ahead of everybody.....if we follow that logic, we will then finish 1st for sure in all categories.....

It doesn't take a lot for UFA's to not choose us.....as if we didn't know that already....

And of course, I think that we're superior to them.....how stupid can I be. Put it's all about putting myself in Sundin's shoes and hoping we're not going to have another Brière case where the Flyers were much superior to us in his mind while everybody in here, me included, thought and still think we were and are the better team......

his agent is complaining that only 3 NHL teams showed interest.

I can't believe three teams actually were interested in him, I thought he'd be lucky if one team was even considering it.

Because he hasn't been signed yet...

From tsn.ca yesterday:

DEMITRA: CANUCKS ARE MY NUMBER ONE CHOICE
http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/teams/story/?i...es_nhl-canucks

Quote:
"I think there is a good chance," Demitra said.

"[Current Canucks GM Mike Gillis] used to be my agent for a long time. We are very good friends. I am very interested in playing for [the Canucks]."
Quote:
"I want to play for a team that is going to win, [one] who is going to compete for the playoffs and the Stanley Cup."

Demitra was not sure when he would sign with the Canucks, only that it could happen in the next few days or the next few weeks.

"[Signing with the Canucks] would be great," Demitra finished.
It looks all but certain but he hasn't signed a contract yet.
