At this point there is absolutely nothing a team can do that can put any fear on us as Ranger fans. Maybe I could be wrong, but I didn't see anyone significantly make themselves better except TB and they have no defense still. Red Wings look like the favorites again.
According to owner Len Barrie, it agreed to terms with veteran forward Mark Recchi (one year, $1.25-million with incentives that could bump it up to $1.5-million) and defenseman Andrew Hutchinson (a two-year, one-way deal that indicates he will be a top-seven player)
Also this morning I am hearing that Nylander's days in Washington may be coming to an end. The signing of Fedorov today essentially puts Nylander on the outside looking in. But Nylander, if healthy as I believe him to be, brings alot to a franchise still. The Rangers definitely had a few moments last year where they thought long and hard about Gomez vs. Nylander.
Two teams that have interest in Nylander, Atlanta and Florida, are in division, but Ottawa I am told, as well as Edmonton could be making a push this afternoon.
Didn't he almost sign there last year and then change his mind (his wife changed his mind)? Ironic if he wound up there now...
I think Nylander to EDM was even announced last year.
Sather NEVER though long and hard about Nylander vs. Gomez though. Nylander got his offer but wanted multiple years, discussion over. 6 months later, he proved exactly why he never should have gotten that multi-year deal.
