I'd like to know that as well.

Darren, your argument simply makes no sense because you are defending Strudwick for being an even player; however, you're critizing Malik who is a positive player. Basically what your saying is up is down.

Well if this is true, the Rangers are serious about the speed game.

Cause they just got a whole lot faster - and a little bit younger too.

Makes it look like Pock will be part of the club as the 7th, due to this. Pock isn't fast by any means but he can play the foot game a hell of a lot better than Jason can.

So unless we find someone else, this pretty much guarantees that Pock or Potter will compete for the role of 7th defenseman.

Still think we need another top 6 forward.

And he has decent puck skills, and a pretty good outlet pass.

It is a shame that Baranka left in such a hurry, this was his chance to step up.

Strudwick obviously is not a very talented guy but he always gave his all and I can appreciate that. I see no reason to bash him, it's not like he just sat around and got a fat paycheck.

Struds the person: Definitely the type of guy you want in your locker room.

Struds the player:
It's hard to believe the guy is in the NHL. It's not that he necessarily made bonehead plays, but rather that
1) He was so slow, he couldn't reach loose pucks that any other player should easily reach -- meaning we got pinned in our zone.
2) The other downside of that was if he did get the puck, he had no time, so all he could ever do with the puck was bank it off the boards (and sometimes) out of the zone.

Sometimes he'd make a diving recovery and the announcers would sing his praises, ignoring the fact that he should have found a way to clear the puck 30 seconds ago

Verdict: Sayonara, and gambatte in Edmonton! Come back when you're ready to coach.

At this point, I'm surprised he didn't go to Phoenix.

Are we arguing? I thought we were agreeing that Strudwick sucks.

You know Shanahan is a great team guy as well and his contribution was far greater than Strudwicks. He played in all situations and at least in many games (unlike Strudwick) was a positive difference maker---yet most of us know that he can no longer keep up and for the Rangers to go forward they had to make a decision not to sign him. Yet some would have us sign this guy just for the feel good factor when most of us realize he's a borderline NHL'er at best.

Strudwick brought one thing to the team. He was a good guy in the lockerroom. That's it. That's all he did. He fought occasionally, and he wasn't even that good at it. He was too slow to hit anyone when he played D, (he MIGHT catch someone when he played forward, but even then, it was when he had a full head of steam and the other guy was dozing off) and if the other team dumped the puck in his corner, forget it, we spent the next 40 seconds trying to get it out. I don't care who you bring in, skill wise, they are an upgrade. We have a ton of "VETERAN LEADERSHIP" in Drury, Gomez, Redden, Naslund, etc. let a young guy play that last d spot. I'm glad Strudwick is out of here and he can take his ridiculous moustache with him.

Exactly. And let's not forget that Renney saw Strudwick as a kind of security blanket and played him way too much.
