I will not be surprise at all if the guy gets cut and sends down to Hamilton for a 3rd straight season.

Should we all be looking forward to Habs' new ultra fast defensive line:

Latendresse - Chipchura - Laraque

Overpowering mass, once it gets moving?

Lats has not played with Koivu for the best part of the last two years. If you didn't see that, you didn't watch enough games.

Lats has played with EVERYBODY but Kovalev-Plex-A.Kost. ****, I remember him trying to bury sweet passes from Dandenault and from Lapierre. Then there was the "kid" line with S.Kost and Lapierre that lasted for what, 3 games. Lats has been shoved left-right for the better part of the last two years. Whether that's right, I can't say because I'm not a coach in the end, but don't tell me that he's played the better part of his 173 games in the league with Koivu.

Well, if any prospect had Mats Sundin, Saku Koivu and Tomas Plekanec in front of him in the depth chart... I doubt there's room for him. It's not Chipchura's fault....

He'll play fourth line center over Lapierre if we get Sundin. Book it.

You think Chipchura will play with Lapierre?
Do you put Lapierre on wing or what?

Since what seems to be forever the habs always had a number 3 "defensive" center who played against the other teams first line. Last year Carbo started to change it and fought fire with fire for the first time in 10 years in Montreal. Playing our "best lines" against the other teams best lines. I am a fan of this strategy and it tells how good a team his as far as am concerned. But in the playoffs Carbo started to play a lot more of Smoke and Kosto ( and it killed me).

This year it seems like ths habs will not have that "defensive" center. Who's the next Smolinsky, Bonk, Juneau ...? There is no veteran defensive center on this team. The habs always been reluctant to play a young defensive center on the third line. Can It be the year we see it ? With the likes of Chipchura or Lapierre ? Maxwell has the potential to be a very good 2 way player playing against the smaller stars in the league as a Carbonneau sort of player with offesive abilities

Of course I assume that were not getting Sundin. If we do it changes everything. But if Sundin retires or go with another team. Do you guys really think we're going with these young guys on the 3 rd line ? If Gainey decide we need another vet at center for the 3rd line ... who could be available ?

Fedorov... that would cost a lot of $ but a one year contract would be fine with me
Gratton ... Good faceoff specialist and brings size .. interesting
Jozef Vasicek ... can he play a defensive game ?
Robert Lang ... Chicago could let him go for cap space.. always liked that guy
Stephan Yelle .. another good shut down center and faceoff specialist
John Madden .. could be available
Mike Peca .. a classic defensive center injury prone
Smoke.. we could still bring him back a had a good post season

Do you guys think we should add a guy like them .. personnaly I do

You say probably and surely you are wrong. He didn't play 70 games with Koivu, he played only couple of shifts with him from one time to another...

Did you watch more games then me too? if yes I would like you to tell me how many I watched as I don't really remember...

Nice to meet you shadow!

there's a difference between being in love with Latendresse and say that he sucks based on a false premise such as "he played most of the time with Koivu" which then became "70 games".

I think the guy has potential and I don't write him off. Don't put words in everybody's mouth.

Yeah now I remember... That Higgins-Koivu-Ryder-Latendresse was a pretty bad first line quatuor... Latendresse was the weakest link on it... This four player line would have been great with someone faster, stronger, more of a finisher then Tender... I hope Carbo does better quatuor next year!!!

I think Youppi played on that line too. Seriously, I saw him almost every game I was at the Bell Centre. He must be an important part of the team.

I agree that somewhat Chipchura is overrated on these boards. Not really in matter of potential, but in the way that it appears that for some people around here, he's going to come in next year and center the third line and he will be exceptional at it from the get-go. It could happen. The guy is talented. But it ain't a sure thing. Just like it wasn't last year.

I actually really like the kid, but I would be surprised if he came in and started shadowing the best lines of the opposite teams like some have suggested here.

Let him grow.

Chipchura impressed me at the beginning of the season, but after a few weeks, his playing got kinda weaker. It's weird to described, but to me, he was playing like Bonk without the puck handling and crash' bangin' Bonk used to do at his best. I'm pretty sure, he learned from his first season as an habs and will be able to play more this season. I can see this leadership-type of guy getting 30 pts. next season switching between the 3rd and mostly the fourth trio.

Yeah I think he lost his nerve after a few weeks and the pressure got to him. The mental game will develop with time, was good to give him a taste of it.
