Good point, although I was thinking Halpern would be better as a 3rd liner. Jokinen could fit in the top 6, but I was just saying that ideally two forwards would set them up quite well. But I'd look for the Bolts to pick up an unheralded UFA, like Stillman, Satan or Vyborny etc... Somebody unassuming, we don't hear much about, who won't cost too much and slide into a top 6 role and produce.

Prospal-Lecavalier-St. Louis
Jokinen-Stamkos- (UFA)
Darche-Halpern-Ouellet
Tarnasky/Ward and other 4th liners

Boyle-Ranger
Kuba-Picard
O'Brien-Lukowich

Something like that. I don't know what the D pairings will look like, but I can tell you (well I'm predicting) it will a top 4 that will start to get attention if they all stay healthy.

You are both assuming that Stamkos will be fully adapted to the NHL. Not sure he will have the same impact right off the bat as the Crosbys, Ovys and Backstrom did. Remember, there are some very talented players who take some time to adapt, like Lecavalier did. Also, Brad Richards was centering that line last year and didn't get very good results by the lack of good wingers, and Jokinen is nothing like his brother. There will be some definitive lack of talent (or otherwise experience in the case of Stamkos) on lines 2 and 3. And TB's D isn't that great. The second pairing will have a rough time against high end teams, as it did last year. Yes, TB is better off at this moment as they were last year, especially with Boyle being there, but a lot of better teams will make the top8, and if they do make it, it will be by the back door.

Jussi Jokinen is much better than his brother. Johu Jokinen only plays in the SM-Liiga for Karpat

Jokinen did get 14 points in 20 games with Tampa last year, and while that is a small sample size, it does point to the fact that he may be poised to be a solid top 6 forward capable of producing 50 points a year. As for Stamkos, I see no reason he won't be a solid rookie. 20+G and 50+Pts is a pretty safe bet, and may even be lowballing it. He won't be counted on to be the main catalyst for the offence, which always helps young players.

Regardless, the UFAs they sign will be key in determining where this team ends up.

As for the defence, I think you're right in saying there may be questions about their overall defensive play, but they are very mobile, have good size and all can contribute offensively. Other than O'Brien they aren't overly physical, but if Melrose can establish a solid positional system, they could be successful.

Seriously though, it's not the same situation. It's not as if he came out and said what Lady Danielle said just before free agency last year. Vinny can do all he wants, same as Lady D, but for sure, they both don't have the guts to come here and will both be missing out on an amazing new Habs era, and in Vinny's case, he could've made this a new dynasty. Guess he's more of the carefree type who likes the sun, sand and babes, than the winning prideful type.

Sorry, I'll leave now.

It's like saying that the gas price will officially hit 1.50$/L, we all know it's going to happen.

Here's a scenario of Cavaleer to Mtl.

Tamba Pay goes broke because everybody down there is too old or too busy drinking margueritas to care about ice and sports that involve icy surfaces.

So the struggling Bolties get folded into the Habs in a hockey merger.

It has happened in the relatively recent past. The Cleveland Barons merged with the Minnesota North Stars in nineteen ..er.. nineteen.. ahem-rumph.

That's how Maruk and others ended up on the Stars.

Maruk had at least one amazing season somewhere along the line.
