Yes, yes you can. Well, it at least speaks for this fan. I would have liked to have seen him signed on a 2 way and sent to Rochester, but it's nice to have him sent far, far away.

A little bit sad in a way ... a couple years ago I thought Mezei could play with Bouw on our first pairing ... time to move on for him aswell

this is ok, but it would have been nice if he could have put a decent season together so the Panthers could have traded him and gotten something in return

I didn't think he was still under contract. Was he?

That had more to do with the Koolaid Dudley fed all of us than with Mezei's realistic upside. In the beginning, I also hoped to see Mezei thrive in a top 4 role.

This would have happened 4 years ago if he wasn't injured every year so we couldnt realize how bad he was

yeah, count me among those who are a bit sad. he certainly struggled at times but unlike those who made him their whipping boy, i agree with you - he is a big, strong kid who can be effective when he plays within himself. he still has some potential but, alas, it is probably time for him to move on.

gee, think those injuries had any impact on his development?

he was not that bad. he struggled at times but also played well. just did not develop the consistency necessary to be an effective Dman. not sure that will happen now but he had the tools. you don't have to have incredible foot speed to be effective.

I'll always remeber Mezei for that death grip headlock he put on Jeremy Roenick, my favorite Mezei moment.

Yep, no use prolonging this discussion, but I too think that Mezei could have been much better if circumstances were more favourable to him. He suffered from horrible unlucky incidences at the worst times. And he suffered from the new rules. They took the edge away from his play, that at least I loved. Thereafter he lost his confidence.

No, he took stupid penalties because he had no hockey sense and he was horrible, if you cannot see that... He has good size and thats all, decent skater, dumb as a rock, cant pass, wont shoot and could be beaten by anybody... I have watched every panther game he has played in and I and pretty sure he is worthless to any team in the league. The fact that he had so many injuries made him play cautious and that made him even worse.

Someone actually signed him!!! I guess if they are brave(Dumb) enough to throw money at Stumpel for his services, they might as well throw some at Mezei! Maybe if Stewart doesn't work out this year he can feel comfortable he can at least get a job with Kazach Astatna!!!

Ahhh, yes - Branislav Mezei, Kristian Kudroc, and he-who-shall-not-be-named-here, the infamous "Redwood Defense" of the Islanders that was supposed to become the Panthers' indomitable blueline.
