Rangers fans.

Thats 7.72 Million a year.

Gomez is making what 7.3?

Drury 7 even?

This makes me want to puke... am I the only one?

Hmm, I didn't know Scotty was a Ranger and resigned with us, especially being one of the most sought after players in the UFA pool.

big difference. Vinny = 11 years NMC + Hometown Discount = 7.72 per

Gomez, and Drury = Highly Sought After FA's (#1 and #2 or #3) = Overpayment.

hey listen, lets give gomez 11 years and maybe he would take 6 million a season.....thats a rediculous amount of years.......he gave them a hometown discount and a thread like this comes up every time a player signs.....this is what happens when a team cant draft for 5-10 years....they need to go out and get high-end talent to fill gaps......thank god the rangers have put an emphasis on drafting lately so they wont have to do it so often

Right. Vinny wanted to stay a bolt so maybe he did take a discount. Either way, his original offer was somewhere around 8.5 which is fair price for a player like him. Only 1 mil more then Gomez.

Point being, despite it being "Market Value" I still think we drastically overpaid those two.

Not to mention Drurys NTC....

Lecavalier is the best player in the world, in my opinion. Tampa is lucky. Good for them and for him.

If not, hes one of the top 5 at worst. Hes my favourite non Ranger and think its been teh most deserving contract handed out this off season.

lecavelier is a very good player, but saying he is twice the player gomez is is wrong.........

this is what HAS to be done for the rangers to continue their growth because they didnt have any high-end youth in their organization because their drafting sucked.....look at when those two players were drafted.....thats when the rangers were trading away all of their picks and prospects for older players.........SURPIRSE the rangrs dont have any in their lineup besides those two......would you rather not have gomez and drury.......would you rather have an even younger team with no real leadership?......i understand everyone saying....."OMG, VINNY GOT A LITTLE MORE THAN GOMEZ!!!"........but you have to look at duration.....gomez is 28, vinny is 29....goez's deal sets it to expire at age 35.....vinny's at 40.....this is a redculous comparison.....vinny has been a bolt his entire career.....wait a few years and i think staal and some others may give some discounts to the rangrs becaus they want to stay

The massive amount of years probably helps when it comes to him taking perhaps less than market value. It's really the end years that drag down the cap hit, I'd bet. I'm sure he's making over $10 million for the next few years until it starts going down towards the end of his contract

Any hockey player wants to win the Stanley Cup and be filthy rich.
Lecavalier has already won the Stanley Cup.
Now he will be filthy rich.
Good for him.
