Are you saying the Oilers will finish 22nd in the league?

Care to justify that?

The date was in the article.....
Judging by the fact that the person you are arguing with has about 14 times the posts you've had and has been a member for three years I'm guessing he just made an honest mistake. Drop it and move on.

They're better than 22nd - that's for damn sure.
For not having played a game yet (and more moves possibly still to come), 15th sounds reasonable to me, too.

I'd put them top 15 at this point. They definitely have improved since last year... even with getting rid of elite 3rd line agitator Torres..

"It just seems like a bunch of bodies moving around."

Okay, let's see. Raffi Torres is not the third-line agitator he's made out to be in the article. In fact, most of the time he should be in the press-box and therefore, per definition, he is overpaid.

Brule isn't Torres' replacement; Cole is. That's an upgrade any way you look at it.

Cole was aquired for Pitkänen who we could move because we had just aquired a near-elite defenseman who is underrated if anything. And we got Visnovsky for a centre coming from an absolutely horrible season and a bottom-pairing defenseman.

I don't think that looks like a bunch of bodies moving around. It looks like upgrading on defense and wing while shedding deadweight. Stoll's uselessness will be upgraded from within, and we'll need to kill like 50 less penalties from stick infractions.

Being a Flames fan it makes me feel sad to say this but the Oilers have turned themselves into at least a Playoff contender which based on the 20 game skid of 2 years ago means some pretty huge strides were taken... That said the success of the team still rides a lot on whether or not the young guns can preform up to the standards they set last season... For my sake I really really hope they do itd be nice to see a real solid battle of Alberta this year as I feel these to teams will be the top 1 and 2 in the div... Who takes which spots probably depends on the BOA

I miss those epic battles too. I think we'll see a return of them, now that the NHL has realized the teams were playing each other too often.

Maybe...? But it was sarcasm regardless.
