Panthers Rookie Camp

Um, did we have one?

I've found absolutely zero on the web.

If we staged one, great! I'd love to hear about it!

If not, I'd really like to know why.

Either way, I'm requesting info.

The "official" website is schlock. Roses and rainbows and romantic sunsets occupy that site.

I'm looking for the goods. Was ANYONE present?

Rookie camps usually don't begin for about another month, maybe a little longer.

We had a development camp for some of our prospects in late May/early June, but that's not the same. You didn't miss it.

There was a camp held somewhere in Ontario back in late May. Only reason that I knew this is because a friend of mine was invited to the camp for your team.....

He'll be showing up to the main camp in September, but he's going to play one more year in the RSL, then he'll come over again and try to win a job with the Panthers in 09-10.

We had a development camp for some of our prospects, mostly the top prospects, in late May/early June. But that's not a rookie training camp.

Rookie camps will start in about a month, they usually run until the main camps begin. For the past few years we had one in Quebec I believe, and during the camp we also participated in a rookie tourney with Montreal and Toronto, and one other team that I think differed every year. That way, you get a feel for the best potential rookies and you invite them to the main camp which starts up right after.

We finish last for the very reason we always finish out of the playoffs. For years, this team has drafted poorly and developed thier players poorly. Not until recently did this change.

tho i agree in general with this statement, i'm not sure if that's applicable - isn't toronto one of the teams that always beats us? is drafting/player development a strong suite there? could simply be the coaching at that rookie tourney.

The fact that our development system is so shallow that we usually had to invite several undrafted guys just to fill out our roster didn't help, either.
