The thing that stuck out at me was 22 off 33 on the road from December 27th to March 8th...

That insane road schedule is preceeded by a 10 in 11 homestand (only game in Carolina) and followed by a 9 in 10 homestand (only game in Ottawa).

Talk about imbalance.

We're home the last Tuesday in February (the likely trade deadline).

That's good.

The trade deadline will be March 3rd... see the second-last paragraph.

http://www.nhl.com/nhl/app/?service=...ticleid=368615

Habs don't play that day, will likely be in Buffalo after three days off for a game the next day.

I like this schedule. A lot more variety. As fun as it is to embarrass the Bruins 8 times a year, it gets boring.

VS the Western Conference:

Home:

Coyotes
Ducks
Flames
Predators
Kings
Canucks
Sharks
Blackhawks
Oilers

Away:

Wild
Blue Jackets
Blues
Red Wings
Flames
Oilers
Avalanche
Canucks
Stars

I'm quite positive I've read a quote somewhere from Carbo or Gainey saying they request starting the season on a light 3-4 game road trip in the east because it brings the team together quicker and builds team chemistry right off the hop.

Seems logical to me.

Definitely going to try to get my hands on some tickets when the habs come to town.

My thoughts:

- We have to be much better at home this year. When you get some of those long sequences at home that we will have, you gotta make some ground. You can't waste a 10 in 11 games at home stretch by going 5-4-2 or something. What was our longest stretch at home last year? 4 games? Quite a change.

- I hate the near week long break in October and then another one in early November.

- The road schedule looks more difficult in terms of travel and it will be tougher to be as good on the road again. That's why it's important to be better at home. That 6 game February trip against the Northwest division and back East vs PIT and WSH will be murder.

- 13 ''2 games in 2 nights'' stretches, covering 26 games. That's basically a third of the schedule. Halak is going to be a very important part.

- Thank god for no December 23rd game.

12 back to back games and 8 are 3 in 4.
Not cool

But the 2 huge home stays with only a Hurricanes and the other a Senateurs road game are pretty amazing. Hope the guys don't get to comfortable.

Road trips are minimumal 2 4s, 1 5s and a 6s that is really poorly layed out. Fihishes with a ba to back (3 in 4). Not as bad as last year. Lots of good stuff.

i found the answer to my own question. thought others may want to know the answer so have posted it here.

'The new scheduling matrix will see each team play six games against every team in their own division (24 games), four games against the non-division teams within its conference (40 games), plus 18 non-Conference games, including at least one game against each club in the other conference (15 games) and three home-and-home series against non-Conference teams.' - TSN.ca
