Ahhhhhh crud. That does not help for the upcoming year. Chris Summers is now going to be a forward again. Defense wins championships.... right???

I read Chris Summers will be jumping back to the FWD rank.

Just curious, where does his game seem to fit better? Does he have a chance to be a top 4 damn in the NHL or top 6 FWD? Just would like a good scouting report.

IMO Summers has a better chance of being a 3rd or 4th line forward in the league... his only chance of making it as a Dman is if he really improves his puckmoving skills and becomes a player in the mold of Brian Rafalski, and I don't see that happening.

I am hoping to catch the GLI this year for the first time. When do tickets become available, and is there a link to a website someone could point me to with more information (cost, etc.)?

Thanks so much.

The tix are not on sale yet, and probably won't be until mid-September or so. You will be able to get them from this website.

Well, Michigan started their year with a weekend sweep at St. Lawrence. Interestingly, Sauer and Hogan split duties in the net. I am completely okay with the idea of Hogan being the starter for the Maize and Blue... I am not the most confident in Sauer.

Unfortunately, Mark Mitera went down on Friday night and had an MRI on his knee. He is the captain and the only real veteran leader on the team. Hopefully, it's nothing too serious.

GO BLUE!

Bob: Bummer about Mitera. I heard he's going to be out for awhile. I caught about half of last night's game on the NHL Network this morning. Of what I saw, SLU played a heckuva third period, but that Palushaj goal (OMG, are you kidding me?!) was just sick and pretty much sealed the deal for UM. Now you may disagree with me on this one, but Drewiske's goal should've counted. SLU got robbed on that one. The puck clearly went over the goal line before the whistle blew. And it bounced off of Summers' knee (the way he leg was moving it kind of looked like he kicked it in with his knee).

I liked what I saw in Hogie and I think Red will be putting him in some more games this season.

Also, really loved watching Czarnik. That kid has got some nice hands on him.

I got the see Saturday's game on the nhlnetwork, figures I get the game that Greg Pateryn doesn't play in. Oh well, hopefully he plays next time they are on tv, with the comcast sports pack I'm sure I'll see Michigan a few times for sure. Anyone see him play in game action? just wondering how he looks.

I agree with your assessment about Hogan, but it seems right now that Red is still gonna favor Sauer, for god knows why.

The loss of Mitera is HUGE, his presence on Michigan cannot be replaced. An already young team just got a lot greener behind the gills.

Wow... the bad news just keeps on rolling in for the University of Michigan Wolverines... player Steve Kampfer was seriously injured during a weekend assault on campus. Kampfer suffered serious head and neck injuries and is now in a collar that will restrict neck movement for 6-12 weeks.

At about 2:30 a.m. Sunday, Stephen Kampfer was found unconscious on the sidewalk near the East Quad by police officers who responded to a call from an emergency phone. Witnesses told police that Kampfer was "body-slammed" to the concrete by another man during an altercation, U-M police spokeswoman Diane Brown said.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Kampfer family.

What's next?

And gets it even MORE depressing for Blue's blueline...

According to the Blog that Yost Buit, Brandon Burlon will be MIA for 1-2 weeks due to an ankle injury.

He is going to have to have a MONSTER year for this team to make any noise in the CCHA. It does not really look like it will be Michigan's year this year.

As a Devils fan, can anyone give me some insight to how Burlon and Wohlberg are looking?

Ha ha ha...Michigan is playing Minnesota right now in Minneapolis and are up 4-0 halfway through the 2nd... Kangas was chased... Michigan could have 6 with the chances they have created. Summers is looking really good out there... Hagelin, too.

EDIT: Well, Minnesota just scored on a 5 on 3... first pp goal surrendered by Michigan in 25 pk's... 4-1.

5-1 with 1 min left in the 2nd. Wiscos announceers can hardly contain their glee.

Hopefully the Wolverines will be worn out from manhandling the Goofs. Bucky has outshot Sparty 32-8 at the end of 2 but it's only 1-0.

I wonder if Wisconsin will realize that the more pressure you put on Michigan's D the better... Minnesota never really got that and allowed our liability to turn into a strength.

There's not great danger of the Badger forwards trying to put the Wolverine D on their heels. The offense starts from the blueline with Wisc. If the Wolverines can get the fore-check going that will stop Bucky. Good luck and game on!

Sweep of Michigan State! Good weekend for the boys in Blue. Hopefully they can keep this rolling into the GLI and then a HUGE series with Miami.

Two good wins for the Wolverines at the GLI. Though MSU is down this year, UM put up 51 shots against them and shook the Jeff Lerg curse with a 5-1 win! MSU mustered a paltry 19 shots. Nice little roll heading into a huge series with Miami on Jan. 9 and 10... GO BLUE!!

Huge win tonight. 3 quick goals in the first on the way to a 5-1 win over Miami. They win tomorrow's game and they've got a legit shot at the CCHA regular season title and more importantly they'd be clearly on pace for a tournament bid.

Great series for the Wolverines! Outscoring Miami 9-1 is pure domination. Hopefully they can carry this momentum through the next series.

Go Blue!!
