OT: Kovalev at Juste Pour Rire

I bought one of Juste Pour Rire's gala on Illico tonight (Le gala Raisonnable hosted by Guy Nantel) and they had a video as part of the final number. A bunch of Québec personalities from different ethnic backgrounds singing a modified version of La bíttt à Tíbí by Raoul Dugay about tolerance, inclusion, integration and all that stuff. The video ends with Alex Kovalev singing "Au Québec il faut parler Français" followed by a "Excusez-la!" with a big grin on his face. Anyone else saw that or was at the gala?

I haven't seen it, but how refreshing is it to see a guy like Kovalev buy into Montreal and Quebec lifestyle? He was in that sports equipment ad and had some words in French, he was at the opening of Saputo Stadium, and he featured heavily during the Grand Prix. He clearly enjoys life in Montreal, and it's nice to see him appreciate the fans' support of him. I never would have guessed that there would be such mutual love when he first arrived 4 years ago.

For the time being...there's love...

...wait until he wants to renegotiate and his asking price...

Love/hatred...such a thin line of separation.

We'll hate him if he asks for the moon and holds out after a bad season. I don't think anyone will hate Kovalev if he asks for 6M after another spectacular season like last year...

Don't forget he once drove/flown all the way up north to see a girl who was sick who happened to be a big fan of his.

Guy has a big heart.

Well it wasn't up north since it was in Gaspésie, and she wasn't sick she just happen to be his biggest fan, she has a room full of Kovy pictures, jerseys, even from Russia.

The asking price of a player is set by the GM and the owner that accepts to give such an amount.

Don't blame to players for asking as much as they can, that's only logical and everybody would do the same.
Blame the GMs/owners for the horrendous signings we've seen over the last seasons.

Naaa seriously, that's just plain great... when he gets into contract negotiations, it wouldn't surprise me if he took some kind of 'paycut' of some sort to stay here... he just loves Montreal and Quebec in general, and the fans loves him, I think he understood what it took to put it all together, after all those years, and it's here that he discovered that.
