From ESPN's 1st round Draft Review:

Luke Schenn says the two forwards who gave him the most trouble were Boychuk and Ennis.

Be more worried that Zagrapan might not make it than Gogulla.

Angelo Esposito has signed with the Atlanta Thrashers. I wonder if this will have any impact on JS Allard and where he plays this year in the Q... Can the trade be rescinded at this point?

Because Esposito has signed with Atlanta, it doesn't mean he won't be back in the Q this season. I would be surprised if the trade can be rescinded, but it wouldn't be a surprise if there was a condition in the contract where Verdun received some sort of compensation if Esposito did make the NHL this upcoming season. I'm not saying that's the case but I think that Allard would be staying with the Remparts, at least for the near future.

Larry Quinn says Zags is committed to the NHL...
Not aware that he's participating in a KHL camp.
He also mentioned that Mike Weber is heading over to Russia for training and to get a jump on training camp play.

The last WGR/Regier interview was the first time I heard Regier mention Butler making a push for the big club when talking about defensive depth.

Larry doesn't seem up on a lot of things. For example he didn't know the Portland schedule, he thought they might be playing Rochester this year. They should stop him from going on the radio, it's evident he's becoming more distanced from the day to day operations of the team.

It's evident that he's clueless, but is he really any more distanced from the daily operations of the team? Maybe he's on that boat Regier was talking about.

I thought it was pretty funny when he said that.

Well I was at the first intra squad game and there is no way that Bailey makes that team if he plays like that. He was probably the weakest player on the ice.

Buffalo Sabre fans wholey cow! Ennis UNBELIEVABLE, Myers dominant, Byron skating circles around D men. Byron smoked by Schenn at one point his first 2 steps are incredible.

Ennis though best player on the ice, dazzling skill explosive speed and great vision. This guy is a treat to watch!

What the hell is up with Gogulla getting no points and Cologne losing both of it's games over the weekend? Any of our German friends have any insight on if it was simply competition or is it personnel turnover? Didn't Dave McLlwain retire, was he the straw that stirred their drink?

Thanks in advance.

Cologne lost again last night, 7-4. Gogulla had an assist.

McLlwain played last night -- no points and a -4.

With the way Cologne has started the season maybe Gogulla should just stay here when he comes to camp.

Not just a rough start, but he got the boot from the first game, even if late, for abuse of officials. Very inauspicious.

Wow, not at all what I was expecting, though when Hecht played in Germany, he got a couple of fighting majors, didn't he? Satan in Slovakia, too, right?

They lost their best Player Ciernik to KHL and now fired the Coach.
I think now they will be better.

Safe to say you guys got two solid players in TJ Brennan and Luke Adam from the Montreal Juniors.

Brennan is just a general out there, him and O'Keefe are just leading by exemple on our blueline. He skates extremely well, and is just solid at everything you could think of. I've seen him pinch in on offense and deke a couple of players and nicely setting up a teammate, and then right after coming back to break up a pass in his own zone. He seriously can play (well) in any situation. He isn't the most physical player though, I hope he picks up on that this season.

Adam is BIG. And he skates FAST. Add to that some serious ability in the faceoff dot, great set of hands that he uses to both score and pass, and great two-way play, and you got yourself a faster Bobby Holik in his prime, minus the hitting.

I will try to keep you guys updated as much as I can throughout the season.

OT-ish: HF's Top 50 Prospects

HF released #'s 26-50 of their top 50 prospects.

Enroth's the only one in at 38. No honorable mentions either.

Very few 1st round picks from this past year. Beach is the highest one I see at 29, and I don't see another one until Colbourne at 44. With the lack of first rounders from this past year, and their low rankings in our own top-20 prospects, I doubt we'll see either of Meyers or Ennis in there.

I doubt Gerbe makes it either with his low rankings. The only other guy I see having a shot is Sekera.

Great; thanks for the update. If Adam can play like Holik in his prime, we should all send KB some cookies or something.
