Dube is the one who seriously was waster, and Kloucek...

Tom Renney really have turned this organization around when it comes to developing kids.

If thoose 2 came in at this point, Id bet my right arm that both of them would have made it and stuck. But back then we didn't have a clue on how to develop a kid....

Without a doubt, Cherneski. This kid would have been at least a solid 2nd liner for 10 years.

Stefan Cherneski, Tomas Kloucek, Ivan Baranka, Manny Malhotra, Dan Blackburn, Jaime Lundmark...

Out of those who've made it, but not quite - Niklas Sundstrom and PJ Stock.

Edit: Well, PJ hasn't really made it. But he was a poor man's Little Ball of Hate.

I was hoping...

Burke Henry or Wes Jarvis would've panned out - liked what the did in juniors and thought Wes Jarvis was the kind of character guy needed at the time - too bad neither could skate.

Think that the Charneski story was pretty sad - thought that kid was going to replace Graves. Blackburn had a career in front of him also.

I also thought Kloucek was going to be a player and he was never replaced in the system - a guy who can knock a player into the third row, pass and skate.

Many to choose from, but I'd join the Cherneski voters.

A couple of HF features on Stefan:

http://www.hockeysfuture.com/article...fan_cherneski/

Edit: I have to quote a passage from the above:
"It was upon his return that Stefan saw his stock drop. Surpassed on the depth chart by prospects including Jamie Lundmark, Pavel Brendl and Manny Malhotra, Cherneski was almost in a sort of limbo."

All I have to say is "**** John Muckler" and "**** Brent Fedyk".

For me, I'd have to say Stefan Cherneski (probably a popular choice) and Dan Blackburn. Both are players who would have been great if they hadn't gotten injured. Cherneski had that horrible injury which prevented him from becoming a fan fave. Blackburn also had a style of play that I loved to watch.

I also liked Jarkko Immonen who was sooooo close to being an NHL 2nd-liner.

Cherneski's injury was horrific, I've never seen anything like that bbefore, tha or since (thankfully)

For me my choice is Garth Murrary, I really liked this kid. He too was never same after tearing an abdominal muscle that required surgury, It looks like he is a career AHL'er & NHL bust.

That's why Fedyk is among my least favorite Rangers of all time.

Pavel Brendl and Jamie Lundmark.

If you had watched them in the WHL during that 1998-99 season, there's no way you'd think neither of them would be legit NHL players 8 years later.

Such huge disappointments in my book, and those picks set this organization back a good five years. They were supposed to be 1st line players. Imagine if they panned out

Still have a soft spot for Brendl though. I have a ton of his hockey cards, game used memorabilia, autographs, etc. Mostly worthless now, except for the sentimental value.

Kloucek was going to be our Robyn Regehr... Like someone said earlier, I remember Leetch mentioning how he was the best prospect he's seen in the Rangers system...

I see Blackburn mentioned and I don't get it, he was a young star, sure his injury ended his career prematurely, but there was no question about him having made the NHL.

For the longest time the Rangers didn't even bother to get a goalie after Richter took that fatal injury. (damn you Marchant and Tamer!!!)

As for who I'd pick, probably Lyashenko and Lampman, even though both got some games in the NHL.

I was quite sure Lyashenko would get a real chance at the season that brought the tragic news of his death.

Burke Henry...he was such a fan-favorite in Brandon...They had some kind of "Oh Henry" candy bar promotion with him. Seemed like he was going to be a solid two-way D-man, and just couldn't get his consitency up at the big level.

I also thought Jake Taylor had a shot...he was a crusher at the U of M...

For me it is Blackburn. A lot of the other guys that you are mentioning were never NHL regulars, Blackburn proved that he belonged and he would have been the starter once Richter retired. It's a shame he got hurt lifting weight in the offseason.
