Yeah, but how do you win four straight Cups in Montreal during the disco-cocaine era and keep your head screwed on right? Lafleur was a King. The world was at his feet. He did a pretty decent job in that regard. Other people have failed worse.
The great thing about Lafleur was his acceleration with the puck, the accuracy/strength/deceptiveness of his release and his complete unpredictability in the offensive zone when he had the puck.
We haven't had anyone close to as good as him. He's one of the all-time greats, no question. People say he couldn't play today, but I laugh in their face. He'd score 50 points on the powerplay alone... easy. Pure sniper.
