Does anyone else see how backwards this situation is? Gainey may need to convince Sundin we aren't even THAT good of a team. This is getting to be bat-**** insane compared to other UFA situations.

There's way too many conditions on his employement....I have the be the star, I have to play out east....blah blah blah.

The prima donna attitude is becoming tiresome.

Make a decision, Mats....you're becoming the poster boy for indecisiveness.

Koivu is our best center at faceoffs, he probably could play wing but he would be a lot more effective used at center.

Detroit and Montreal
Not the same sittuation coming to win a cup in Montreal would be way different then in Det.
In Detriot you would sign there with the team that always wins the president trophy and is always a favorite for the cup out of training camp (this year more then ever with the cup from last year and with Hossa). In Montreal you can be apart of the 100 years with a young club that needs a push to reach the top.

Detroit is as close as you can get to being a lock for the cup, thats why Mats wouldnt feel needed with them as opposed to Montreal.

Not saying he will sign with us, just think comparing the Detroit sittuation to ours is silly and it wonnt be a reason Sundin will sign elsewhere, if he does.

21-14-27 Plek and Kovy have great chemistry
Tang-13-84 Sundin made Poni a goal scorer in TO I think him and Tang could turn Gui into the power forward we want, and tang and mats could work well together.
46-11-74 The bros have great chem and it almost seems like they dont use their center too much when playign together. Saku would be a good complement to them, good passer, good faceoff, great work ethic and playing with these two might give him a little boost.

I know 99% of you will disagree with my lines, but I think it creates 3 absolute threats every time they are on the ice. You can mix them up for the PP, to create to power lines.

Toronto or Vancouver, sorry Fellas

Beaker Edit: convenient how this reporter read the same interview the TSN guys, and Bill Meltzer did, but he left out Montreal as an option, something that Sundin definetely said.

Vancouver is shedding themselves of Naslund and Morrison and will replace them with Demitra and Sundin...to me it doesn't look that much better.
Van is no where near TOR's situation, mainly thanks to a certain LUONGO.
Put Sundin in Toronto, they might still finish last. Put Sundin is VAN they have a legit chance of making the POs. They still have a great duo with the Sedins. I don't like Demitra but he'll still rack up around 50-60pts, with a few good prospects and a reasonable defense, adding Sundin would help them a lot.
Where as Toronto is going nowhere with or without him.

Sundin has actually never said those things. He has never once in his career said: "I have to be the star."

If you're getting upset about his indecision, imagine how Leaf fans feel. This has been going on all year, so you might as well take it in stride. If you've waited this long, you can afford to wait 2 more weeks.

We've been over this -- Sundin made no such suggestion, the reporter extrapolated that from the comment that Toronto was still in the picture.

These stupid journalist always trying to spin everything to make it more interesting and a bit more informative just by using a couple of key words.

He basically says Toronto will be rebuilding and finishing his career there is still an option (No surprise there)
He also says Van's offer is interesting and unusual, 2y/20 for a 37yo ( also no surprise there)

No word on Mtl. He didn't mention he was going to play in Mtl nor that he wasnt going to play here. He never said his only 2options are Tor-Van.
We do know MTL made him an offer, he said he'll study the offers he's gotten. So, nobody is in or out yet.

This is also an article written by ''SUN MEDIA STAFF''...

I dont know if it been said in this thread but Sundin's new wife is employed by MLSE. Now i kinda think she's going to want to stay in the town where she works and people talk the same language as she does.

Its Toronto or retirement for Mats

I seriously doubt she needs to work anymore...

On top of that I doubt her five figure income will dictate where they will settle.

I'm fairly new here but I'm getting a sense that fans from other teams seem to get enjoyment from trying to piss off Habs fans.

Well, from all accounts, it was Shanahan's wife that sealed the deal of him not coming over here 2 years ago.

Never doubt the Power of the 'Wife Side'...

It's not that he DIDN'T want to go to Detroit, it's that he wasn't ready to make his decision and they could get Hossa at a discount. If Hossa had called Gainey and offered to sign 1 year 7 mil, he'd have been a Hab within the hour.
