Canucks Re-Sign Six Guys
http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=2442...headlines_main
Shannon, Rypien, Brown, McIver, Fitzgerald and Sharrow all re-upped.
Nice housekeeping job by Gillis/Tambellini/etc. All RFA's are now under contract.

Now it all makes sense. Sundin is waiting for Gillis to re-sign his other players first.

Exactly. Why would he sign with us unless he has McIver, Fitzgerald and Sharrow to get the puck to him?

Cool. Nice job by Gillis retaining a bunch of depth/project guys. Hopefully at least a couple of them can do something at an NHL level at some point in the season when injuries occur.

I wonder if we'll see Raymond-Shannon-Pyatt at al this year. I liked that combo.
Yay to the rest of the signings, I suppose. Like to see Brown more next year too.

that's a relief, I was afraid some team would throw a huge offer sheet at Ray Sharrow...

I think it's Jimmy Sharrow...Ray Shero is a GM and not much of a dman.
Sharrow and Fitzgerald are unlikely to ever see NHL action in Vancouver, but the other 4 will likely get some games when the injuries start happening.

Fitzgerald has already played a game for the Canucks

I'm guessing this is just slow notice of all of them signing their qualifying offers. There was a flurry of these types of signings last week.

Wasn't one in Dallas? Canucks had Edler and who else? Lost in a shootout...I was so proud/relieved.

February 5 in Dallas.
The D that night was:
Edler-Salo
Weaver-Bourdon
McIver-Fitzgerald
Brrrrrr...
Therefore, I take my statement back.
Fitzgerald
might get into another Canucks game if there are simultaneous injuries to Ohlund, Bieksa, Mitchell, Krajicek, and Davison...

I find it interesting that they re-signed Rypen. I'm curious as to the exact terms of the deal.

Why is it interesting? he's an AV favourite and adds toughness/grit depth - he's a better overall player then Brown, if anything I'm surprised that they inked both Fitzgerald and McIver, both are Davison-like players
