Here is an Excel Spreadsheet to keep track of the 2008-2009 Roster and salary numbers. I also have Providence and Prospects listed.
For future years salary cap estimates I used the FYI from Playmaker (post 33).
The avg. age of the Bruins roster is based on players age as of the B's home opener. Without the goalies it drops 1/2 a year.
Information was gathered from nhlscap.com, hockeybuzz.com, and bruins.com. Feel free to point out errors or add any missing information to the thread and I will update.
Now updated for St. Pierre and Thompson. I'm not sure if they are both still RFAs next year. Same with Boychuk in 2 years.

If I hear that Andrew Ference needs to be traded to remove cap space one more time I'm going to kill someone.
The guy ****ing makes 1.4 million dollars.That's a steal anyday. He had a bad year last year. So what. He was good certain games. Without Andrew Ference, we would of never won that game against the Flyers at home. Without Andrew Ference who knows what would of happened in the playoffs without his 4 assists.
The point is the guy is good ok, he will be much better this year and hell he is cap friendly.
Even with Murray on waivers, what happens if Thomas gets injured (1 million cap hit)
How do you call up Rask (3.2 million cap hit)
If Thomas get's hurt Fernandez is your #1 until he get's back. Boston can call up the backup goalie from Providence at a cheaper cap hit and trade for an nhl caliber backup if Thomas is going to be out for an extended period of time. Similar to how they got Auld last year.
Spreadsheet is updated (Post 27) for current numbers to include Murray's buyout. I swapped in St. Pierre for Pelletier. I still haven't seen Wheeler's cap hit number. Does anyone know what it is? I imagine about $2,000,000 but haven't seen it anyplace.
I still think one of Axe or Schaefer gets moved probably so Soderberg has a spot if he is ready and possibly Alberts if Lashoff looks ready. I think Thompson should take Reich's place too.

FYI: The NHLPA projects the cap will be $62M next summer and $65 the summer after that. It was in a Larry Brooks article in the NY Post.
