so long johan. you were decent in shootouts, and some nights you played unstopable. too bad you couldn't get some consistency down

Since Holmqvist himself has denied signing with Frölunda, I'm not sure about this thread.

You are right on the money with that one, unfortunately. Homer gets a bad rap since people here rely on stats instead of watching games, he had some great stretches for us but his consistency was definitely his downfall and I think he was overused. The shorter schedule in Sweden is probably better for him. He gets high marks from me for his effort, his honesty and his professionalism and I wish him the best of luck.

Interesting, but it's ended up a few times this year already that the players deny this stuff & the deal is announced a few days later, so we'll see I guess.

Odd nobody wanted him and the Stars didn't want him back, as Holmqvist was Tampa's best goalie last year in my opinion. For the most part I guess goalie tandems are set, but this guy should have been able to get a job somewhere in the NHL. I take it he's going to make better money in the SEL?

edit: I guess I should read the thread. I'll wait to see if this news is true.

Personally, I'd estimate his salary at around $500,000.

This was about Ahonen, but much applies to him as well.

I came here to say the exact same thing. Holmqvist was unbelievable when he played against Carolina

This guy should be with Colorado instead of Raycroft. Holmqvist > Raycroft.

So we know what team everybody's referring to already, don't we? Start another freaking thread if you wan't to debate team names for crying out loud... talk about Holmqvist.

Anyhow, wherever he goes I wish him the best of luck - like many goaltenders consistency (or lack thereof) was his downfall. On the right team he'll do really well.

Just wanted to state that it is confirmed now, while before Johan stated nothing was signed.

Erh?

It says 4 million SEK, and unless the US peso has fallen even more the last days I get like 670K USD from my calculator.

One heck of an SEL salary anyway.

4 million a year for two years equals 8 million. 8 million kronor equals $1.3M.

Ah, got yah.

Edit:

It could be noted that he's got an NHL "out" clause in his 2 year contract.

So if he's offered an NHL contract next spring/summer he can chose to skip the second year.
