I have a pretty nice Winchester Sportster I use for disk shooting

but hunting with it ?

I went hunting once and just didn't have it in me ...

I ended up shooting just to scare animals ...

What I learnt : Beavers don't fear guns ...

what scare me the most about hunting is the look on peoples faces one they've shot down an animal, it reminds me allot of what people look like on a coke trip.

Just to be clear, I posted that image to raise concerns here. I don't have any particular issues about hunting as a way to feed the human being. I have issues when hunting is simply done with wrong purposes, e.g. hurt animals, kill for no reason, etc.

Personally, I tried it and know it's not in me. I also played paintball a few times, and didn't like the feeling of having a weapon in my hands. I also played in a movie where I had to shoot with a gun. It's not in me, really not in me...

Anybody ever think that living beings live by "stealing" and transforming the matter that constitutes other living beings? Kinda weird what we are.

I kind of agree, but I'm a bit of a sissy pants though. I have no problem with hunting in the manner in which people I know pursue it. I have a problem with hypocrites though.

I'm not much of a venison fan though, a bit gamey tasting for me.

I don't like the idea of burying our dead, at least not while there's still a grill in my yard.

Yeah...
Like playing paintball. I had few thoughts afterwards... I was wondering, what if this was true? What if I had to go to a war? ... I can understand why soldiers are so screwed up when they come back from scrimmage lines.

Clover reared back on her hind legs and scared a kid last Sunday. I gave her extra grain afterwards.

I don't know Phil , you think there's a caramel filled ice cream bar left in the freezer and you find out someone took it, you'd be surprised what you can do.

Especially at this time of year when the corn's so high that no one will notice anything until the fall.

You're one of those scary country folks aren't you?

We should build walls to our cities, like in the olden days.

This has the makings of the epic, Poutine-like thread of the summer. Some of the images included here are hilarious. Is there anything more subversive or funnier than a kitten blowing its brains out?

I had your father as gym class instructor at Dartmouth Academy, as you recall. I'm glad I didn't challenge his authority.

Personally I love venison. In a pepper sauce or with berries. With an explosive red wine.

I grew up with my father being a 'sharpshooter' with handguns, practicing with the SQ and GRC on special firearms courses. At 8-9 years old, I was used to fire with 9mm, .45 pistols, .38 revolver and heck, I even tried a .357 magnum, but I found the recoil to be a bit too much for me at that time... I was very good at shooting targets that were like 100 feet away, and I really liked the sound and feeling of power...

BUT my father wasn't a hunter, he tried it once, but didn't like it... had to kill poisoned/very ill or old pets of parents or friends cause they wanted their sufferings to end... he did it cause he was like the only one who could do it (euthanasia wasn't necessarily a popular option back in the day), but never liked it, cause he just loves animals... he understood the situation, and somehow managed to make the animals 'understand' it too... anyway, tough to phrase this.

Personally, I never had the killer instinct... on a purely technical point, I could easily kill with a firearm, I just don't want to... I understand the primal, primitive instinct hunters, for food, but in this era, I don't understand the need to... we have everything we need in supermarkets, to eat and cook and whatever.

Still, with rules, it's ok, I guess. I absolutely hate animal cruelty, kill it rapidly, don't torture it... or else I wish a predator stumble on you and kill you slowly.

Oh yeah, about poachers and their smugglers friends, IMO they should be shot on sight. They're parasite and because of them some species just keep disappearing... same with ******** who eat exotic, endangered animals, just because they think it's cool...

About the op, nice toy !

I could never kill an animal....

but I could kill a human being.

Seriously, when I go on fishing trips I feel bad if a fish swollows the hook too deep and I can't get it out... I can't imagine I'd just kill a deer for no reason.
