Rangers Roster w/o Bona Fide Hall of Famer?

Seems like a foreign, weird proposition for NYR and MSG.

Has there ever been a roster with no bona fide HOF vet on the team?

Interesting question. The '99-'00 had only Leetch, I think. '89-'90?

I thought of this too. Haven't been in this position in almost 20 years. We've been really lucky to have Messier, Gretzky, Jagr in succession.

EDIT: Ok, Garts had 465 goals at that point, but not sure he was a lock at that time.

Mmmm hindsight is 20/20 but I think Gartner counts. He was the ****ing man. Only slight to 1994 was that MG got dealt from the cup bound team for Anderson.

I think you have to go back to 1985. Is Pierre Larouche in the HOF?

Ok, at 465G I'd give you Mike. Larouche is not in.

none of our youth are sniffing the hall yet. Not even Henrik.

Gomer and Drury are not bona fide for the Hall, or anyone else on the present roster imo.

You have to go back to 1985 the last time the Rangers had no Elite HOF bound players.

Infact after Espo retired in 1980 its a stretch of serious mediocrity. In the shadow of the freaking Dynasty of HOFamers out east.

We don't have one............YET.

Sundin still has to make up his mind and im sure after he turns us down Slats has a trade in place. No way we go into the season with this foward core.

it is better this way....makes players rely on each other rather than everyone relying on one person. This will be a TEAM.

What are you talking about? Our GM has already said he isn't done adding to the fowards, that we have an offer in on Sundin, and you bet if he turns us down a trade is coming, most likely with some young guys being moved out to make it happen. This thread is useless as it could be 100% wrong within a week.

I was referring to the original idea about having a HOFer on the team....i don't think the Rangers are done by a long shot.

The thing is I can't even imagine who we could be trying to get with us so close against the cap. How are we even in the Sundin hunt? I have NO IDEA. But to be honest I wouldn't be THAT surprised to see he signed here. I would love to know the plan Slats has if he picks NY. Who would we have to trade? But who else is he targeting if Mats goes elsewhere? I would think for a proven player who doesn't make that much. Who could be available that fits that bill?

To me these are the questions i'm more interested in finding the answers to instead of silly line combo's for an unfinished roster. Yet no one seems to be really talking about it.

If Sundin doesn't come here then I don't really see any big name coming to NY. I see Sather trading some of the 3rd/4th/fringe players for draft picks next year considering none of them take up a considerable amount of salary. Unless Prucha is involved which seems less likely because of his poor trade value as of right now, i don't see a considerable top 6 player coming here. I could be wrong...look at the Zherdev trade and even the Olli Jokinen trade, guys that were had for considerably less than what people thought it would take to get them. I bet if there is a trade, it will be a big big surprise....whatever it may be.

Sundin seems like a real long shot. I believe he'd want to come here, but thats a lot of cap to clear.

Shanny on the other hand
