P.S. I started a blog.
i know this might be crazy but what if at the end jagr comes back to the NHL when Cherepanov does?? i mean it could happen. i know its a longshot but it would be fun to see.

Why would Jagr do that?

I actually thought about this
Could this have been the decision that made when the Russian Gm and Slats conferred in NYC earlier this year?

Jagr sign in Russia (great publicity for KHL) - plays a year in Avangard with Cherepanov, joins him for a last year in NYC colours 2009-2010 and then finishes career in Russia and/or Czech Republic?

Call it a longshot - but not totally impossible
Enticing...

What about all the talk of Jagr wanting to finish his career where it started, with Omsk? He's old and likely signed his last contract in the place he wanted to finish his career.

Jagr's contract with Omsk is a two year deal with NO NHL out-clause. He's there for two years no matter what.

Jagr started in Omsk? Lol

here he said http://www.sports.ru/hockey/5319736.html
no NHL 2 or 3 years in Russia (he want to back-up his reputation of great player so no 40% effort matches he is ready for work) then Kladno.

Jagr on returning to the NHL:

Quote:
The chance that I will return to the NHL is insignificant, I would say that it is equal to zero. I had an opportunity to become almost an idol overseas, perhaps second only to Wayne Gretzky [in scoring]. But now that I have decided to come over to Europe it is unlikely a return would be possible. But I will not regret or look back; my purpose is to play good hockey here. I don't know whether I will be in Russia for two or three years, but then in any case I will go home, to Kladno, to the club of which my father is president.

Greg Beller will attend the University of Manitoba next year.

Quote:
20-year old forward Greg Beller has committed to play next season with the University of Manitoba Bisons. Beller came to Vernon just before Christmas last season from Yale University. The New York Rangers draft pick scored 20 points in 23 regular season games and was a force in the playoffs.

The Vernon Vipers would like to congratulate Greg and wish him good luck next season.

Do we still hold Beller's rights?

Yes, until the year of his original graduating class, which I don't remember offhand, but is at least a couple years away.

Nice. So, I don't really remember any of the scouting reports on him and I've never seen him play. Does he have NHL potential? What type of game does he play?

Definitely not an NHLer. Probably an ECHLer at best.

so we drafted a 6th round pick that can be an ECHL we could have signed some player to an AHL deal

What? What do you expect from a 6th round pick? There are some steals late in the draft but the majority of them don't make it. And I don't get the last sentence.

So we should have forfeited the late round pick and signed an AHL-caliber player instead?

You never cease to amaze me. ECHL level hockey is probably where most 6th rounders end up. And he isn't under contract, so it has no bearing on signing anyone else to an AHL deal...

Avangard started preseason, they played one friendly match so far Cherep scored hat-trick. This is lines for next season.

Rosa-Klepis-Jagr
Popov-Kurri-Cherep

And i hope they can put together decent PP units unlike last year. Don't care about WJC, i just want Cherep to play impressive (40+ points) season in KHL and force Russia NT head coach Bykov to invite him in senior team. This is my expectations.

For all the rumblings people make about him not coming over this year, it is a good thing he decided not to. Otherwise he would have not been eligible to play any level of international tournaments.

This way, he can come over without breaking contractual obligations and he will be able to play for Russia in international tournaments.

Hat-trick in the first game, good start! (albeit preseason).

Thanks for the update, Avy.
