Mathieu Biron

Hi,

im interested in some Informations about Mathieu Biron!
He is a 28 years old Defender and was treaded in
2006-Dec-15 from San Jose Sharks to Montreal Canadiens for Patrick Traverse.

Is he a offense Defender or a stay at home defender?
When I read a lot of articels, i think he must play more defense like he will!

Thanks
Marco

He played for our AHL team, and is no longer under contract with us.

I think he's more of an offensive defenseman, depite his mammoth size!

I know he signed with the Frankfurt Lions.

He's very big and decent speed for his size. I watched him play with the AHL Hamilton Bulldogs and I didn't think he'd crack the Montreal NHL roster, but he can throw good hits and is responsible on the ice. I would expect he'll play more stay-at-home style on a bigger ice surface but he has some decent passing skills too. The Bulldogs won a championship with him a couple years ago.

He's played in his share of NHL games but could never hold a spot. He's leaving the Montreal organization which has many young defense prospects, some of whom may have already passed him on the depth chart, so really there was no place for him any more.

Glad to see Mathieu continue his dream of playing pro hockey !

P.S. He was much better than Patrick Traverse

I totally agree with you,
although I think he'll have his share of points on the big surface; good mobility, with speed and may be able to protect the puck well...

he was a good depth guy but we don't need it anymore

watch for brain cramps... I remember him doing some in the NHL.

I'm happy for him, he is a nice guy!
