Its almost apples-to-oranges to include Punch Drunk Love, Spanglish and Reign Over Me. They're movies that Adam Sandler is in, but I wouldn't call them "Adam Sandler movies," if you catch my drift.

Honestly, I don't think I disliked any I've seen except for Chuck & Larry - and that one only because it abandoned the comedic portion of the plot in order to get preachy. A common downfall of the politically correct. If they wanted to preach tolerance, it truly was a better vehicle to maintain the parody and let people think for themselves. But there are those who look down their noses at everyone and don't trust them to come to their own conclusions.

But honestly - you see an Adam Sandler film, what are you really expecting? Sophisticated humor? Shakespearean acting? Please. It's fun, light-hearted, adolescent comedy. And he does it very well.

The great thing about Punch Drunk is that PT Anderson took what Sandler basically does, with the energy and violence and whatever, and managed to make it into something that felt genuine and harrowing instead of just goofy and annoying.
