Murray

glan murray is an UFA....he is a big body who, when healthy can score quite a few goals.....could he possibly be the answer to the final top-6 spot......if he would sign for cheap could the rangers sign him to add some scoring and size?

If Boston chased Murray out of town in favor of Michael Ryder, well..........

If you're going to sign Murray, you might as well sign Shanny instead.

No to both.

No thank you. We have enough people already who need to be gone by next season.

Aren't we trying to get younger and faster?

Dont see how Murray would help being he possesses neither of those attributes.

I agree. This board consider anyone at 35 is being close to the grave, however. In fact, most this board posters like only players that are at least five years younger then any of them. This way they could easily show their disrespect should things go wrong.

If we have 10 guys blow out ACLs this fall, he might be worth a look. Otherwise, no.

That can only be done through trades and drafts. Draft is over, trades are tough to do. The UFAs can only get you older. May be we want to get better, not just younger and faster?

Yeah but does any one here really expect this team, one of the top 5 youngest in the NHL i believe to really contend with all this youth and in-experience?

I for one would not mind the Murray signing. Look, if we can 2 or 3 players to other teams that have needs, for some picks to clear up the log jam I dont see how it could be a bad thing. Murray can still score some goals, we have extra picks, and no more log jam.

And Glen Murray, who just got cut by Boston, would make this team better?

Have you worked for the Rangers before? Im sure you couldve landed a front-office job from 98-04.

i hear ya, news is slow and times are lackluster in terms of excitement in rangerland so i the effort to get topics off the ground, dont mean to discourage---HOWEVER, it's been discussed quite a bit since he was bought out and the general, first gut impression from, seemingly, the majority of us is hell .

I am waiting for the "mystery last big move" to materialize though........

I suspect Sather would disagree with your contention. He's not getting any younger.

The season we are heading into will be worse then any of those atrocious years... Lundqvist is the only hope.

As for Murray, one man's trash is another man threa..., well Murray is far from being that, but we do not have to pay him 4.15 million. He gets it from Boston. They needed cap space, so they cut him loose. That fact doesn't make him not serviceable. He was 1st line winger for years. As is, Murray would be better then any winger we have except Naslund and Zherdev. I'm not saying I want him, but he, IMO, is the same kind of vet as Shanny or Naslund given their current condition. Someone who could take a spot from a kid. Or someone the kid should compete for a spot. If we have a top 6 player in Hartford we better not sign neither Murray or Shanahan, but do we really?
We lost Straka, Jarg, Shanahan and Avery. Who is going to play top 6? Naslund and Zherdev?
Who else? Callahan? Prucha? May be, but as of today we're short of two guys.
And speaking about blocking youth progress... Last year we had centres all over the roster, yet Dubi made it all the way to 1st line.
