This is from '06 when Shanny fought Brashear over an elbow on Jagr. At about 1:48 you can see the replay of Brashear sucker punching Aaron Ward on his way to the box. It always bothered me that nobody seemed to have a problem with that; if Shanny stood up to him why does the team just stand there after that cheapshot?

Ward embellished that anyway, no need to defend him in that situation.

Didn't Orr cheapshot Ovechkin near the end of the game in relatiation?

Either way and with all due respect who cares about something that doesn't involve almost any of the Rangers that will play next season?

I know it's July and we are down to nothing to talk about but this is really a stretch topic...

And I know I'm talking about an old team, but there really is nothing to talk about.

Ward tried to goad Brashear into taking a penalty, and he did

and I think Brashear got kicked out of that game, so what are you looking for?

Um...no.

Ward was a decent dman for us and if you think Ward is soft then I have to question whether you even know what soft means.

Ward played a more physical than de Vries as a Ranger, and Malik, in the 3 post lock-out seasons, played a lot better than de Vries.

Ward had a great resume coming in and I really had hi hopes for him with the Rangers, but just from his interviews he seemed like an ass that was very full of himself. He got the same treatment because of Jagr as Marc Savard got because of Messier. Sometimes guys just don't get along.

Well then do me the honor of explaining to me how he was NOT soft.

Or maybe my intense hatred for him overshadows my judgement, who knows. As far as I am concerned Malik>Ward and I consistantly destroyed Malik every oppertunity.

I wouldn't even call that barely beating, more like a draw. I would be embarrassed if I was him 4-5 inches on him and at least 25lbs.

I don't wanna see Mara dropping the gloves if thats how he's going to fight but I definitely would love to see him play with a mean streak. Similar to when he returned from the face injury with the full cage and played a more physical style.
