how many defensemen do we need? i've heard about depth, but unless a freak zamboni accident injures our entire starting defense corps, do we really need this much?
sorry misread it. Tired....

I am fine with this trade.

Is Hatcher legitimately injured to be placed on LTIR or are they placing him on there as a way to circumvent the cap?

Yes, his knees are really, really bad. He had to get then drained before every playoff game and it's pretty much bone on bone at this point.

good deal for both teams, knuble played for hitch so he knows the type of style that hitch likes. knuble and nash would be good cause both are big and score goals in front of the net. knuble was one player i wish stayed a ranger.

I really, really hope Howson is not thinking about doing this. Hejda is a Howson/Edmonton guy who came in and was a force defensively last season. Columbus doesn't have +20 guys growing on trees.

Knuble is 36 years old! Don't do it Howson!

That'd be a good deal for Philly. Hejda is very underrated and signed to a very good contract.

Bad enough that he can't pass a physical.

I heard that he had to get them drained damn near every week during the regular season. I can only imagine the amount of pain he plays through but, at the same time, he's threatening his long term health at this point. He had a very solid career and it's time to hang them up.

I don't see this happening, Philly needs a 2nd pairing puckmover who can put up 25-30 points, I like Hejda, but he doesn't fit that role.

Philly already has Parent to be the shutdown guy on the 2nd pairing.

Overrated stat, wasn't Modry the only + player on LA before the Flyers acquired him at the deadline.

Getting rid of Knuble makes me excited, the fact that we could be getting a useful player in return makes it all the better.

Wait...Mike Knuble actually has value? I thought he'd garner like a 2nd round pick as a salary dump maybe.

There's no way this happens. Since he took over the team, Howson has improved the defensive depth in the organization immensely. I doubt he's going to trade away our best defenseman from last year for a 36 year old Knuble, let alone trade away a 4th round pick (I still have no idea why Howson likes 4th rounders so much).

depends who he will play with. Eminger? Jones? Vaananen? Kukkonen?

Atlantic very strong so it wont be easy to shut down Crosby, Malkin, Gomez, Drury, lines. Not everyone can do it at the age of 21-22. Parent is a decent young prospect but lets not get ahead of our selfs.

This would be an awful trade for the Jackets. Hejda is the best player in the league no body knows about.

He played easily the toughest minutes against top opposition for the Jackets and faired extraordinarily well against the top guys.

He is a fantastic shut-down d-man who can play big minutes against the best offensive players in the league and basically nulify them. Certainly way better than a 3rd pairing guy that he was called earlier in the thread.

15 PP goals (superstar level, check out the list), 29 goals total last season.

Yeah, he's valueless.

He may be a one trick pony but it's quite the trick.

Edit: He's also on a very reasonable contract. How many other 30 goal scorers are less than 3 mil?

Regardless, the Flyers are nearly $4 million over the cap, and Knuble has 'guy most likely to be moved' written all over him. I can't imagine his value would be particularly high considering the cirumstance, and the fact he's 36.

I don't see this deal happening either, but to a contender I could see getting something totally decent for him. And, again, Hatcher won't be on the cap once the season starts.
