Proposal: Devils Vs Preds

Witht the loss of Alexander Radulov and possibly Steve Sullivan, the Preds took a MAJOR BLOW on offense this off season. Nashville has alot of depth at defense and most of they're good prospects are defensemen. Brian Gionta is in his final year of his contract at 4M$/year and with the signing of Brian Rolston and Bobby Holik, Gionta might become available.

New Jersey is in desperate need of a puck moving d-men and I think Nashville is in desperate need of a top 6 forward. Here's what I propose...

To Nashville

Brian Gionta *
Vitaly Vishnevski
Petr Vrana
3rd round pick

Vs

To New Jersey

Shea Weber/Ryan Suter

* If Gionta doesn't resign with Nashville, they'll get our 1st round pick in next years draft

Is it a deal

Nope, Weber/Suter means Parise going the other way.

And we've already had one go with Vishnevsky, and I don't think he was very well-liked by the players and the staff, especially after he led the stretches in practice that one time...

Wow, that is a really bad proposal. Gionta's useful, but he's only signed for another year. I wouldn't be surprised if Vishnevski clears waivers at this point. Vrana is still highly unproven.

Meanwhile, Suter is signed for a reasonable amount for the next 4 years. Ditto Weber for the next 3.

Honestly, the flipside would be like:

New Jersey: Mathieu Schneider, Todd Marchant, Ryan Carter, and a 3rd
Anaheim: Zach Parise

// even with the first round insurance if Gionta doesn't resign, doesn't make much sense for Nashville

Offered the same brutal deal for Kessel, just ignore him.
