Well habs had a great year this year and the Leafs stink; if the standings were reversed you'd see more leafs shirts.... The Leafs are undeniably the most popular team in the area...

I'd say its 70% Leaf fans.... 10% Hab fans... 20% split to every other team in the league.

Being from Hamilton originally. I wouldn't go as far as claiming "70%" are Leaf fans. Maybe a fraction over 50% is pro-Leaf. The old Hamilton vs. Toronto animosity has always existed. Big business city against a rugged steel town (see Argos/Tiger-Cats).

Most of the people I attended school/associated/work with cheer for other clubs (Habs, Flyers, Bruins, Sabres, Oilers, Islanders, Red Wings, Avalanche/Nordiques) and don't really like the Leafs. Trust me, plenty of Bruin fanatics around here.

No coincidence that all of those teams - excluding Buffalo - have won the Stanley Cup since 1967. Kids (generally speaking) cling to champions or competitive franchises. Sabres have a local following (Hamilton area) because of the obvious geography.

With the Habs hosting the draft you know they want to make a splash in front of the hometown fans, so if they finish in the top 25-30 pick of the 1st round they are going to make a trade to move up...either for this kid or someone esle.

Not to digress. Do you recall the 1992 draft? It was held at the old Forum. Canadiens fans actually booed Serge Savard's first round selection, David Wilkie.

They were hoping for Paul Brousseau. Wilkie's career was cut short because of nagging injuries. Some of you might remember Wilkie was part of that Igor Ulanov trade (1998). Whereas Brousseau wasn't couldn't enough to stick.

I've seen a lot of Lebanese guys put on a lot of mass when working hard at the gym.

Also, there's a strong Lebanese community in Montreal. And they're actually really into hockey, they really like the habs!

So, if this guy's good, well why not draft him?

Note - Kadri was dealt in the off-season (to complete the Steve Mason trade) to the London Knights. So anyone looking for him next season, check out the Knights.

I predict he will be in the top-5 in OHL scoring for the next two years and will be a likely top-10 NHL pick.
