I'd give him Filppula's deal in a heartbeat. (15/5) But realistically he might command Getzlaf/Perry money.

Unless he scores 35 goals and gets 70 total points...no way. I love Dubi, but I have a better chance of making the NHL than he does of getting Perry money on his next contract.

What? No dig at Drury's contract?

I think he gets something in the 15/5 range myself, that is unless he has an ATROCIOUS year.

If he has another good year, and shows improvement, then I think 15/5 is reasonable.

But he's not playing with Jagr this year so we'll see how that affects him.

Rangers should be smart and try and lock him up in a Trent Hunterish kind of deal

5 years 10 million

It will take Brandon right to UFA Age at 27

well since he puts up pts comparable to Drury (in one season) I guess he does deserve a contract of about $7.5 mil a year. (remember inflation). That seems to be the going rate for borderline 2nd line centers for the Rangers. See Drury, Chris. Just for you Forechecker.

on a serious note though I think you nailed it on the head. If he puts up about the same #'s this year (remember it looks like he will be 3c not 1c so that does mean improvement) than a 15/5 salary would be a very good deal for both sides. I have a feeling though that the Dubi camp would push for 9/3 or 12/4 so dubi can cash in sooner though.

If he has a similar year to last year.. probably 3 years / 7 mil.

If he improves and has a 20g/40A season (which is where I'm putting my bet).. 3yrs / 10 mil. Which will put him first in line for a pay raise when Drury comes off the books.

If he completely breaks out and cracks the 70+ point mark.. we might be in trouble. Although for a kid that loves being a Ranger as much as Dubinsky, he could take a discount. If anyone was going to take a little less to stick around, I think he'd be the one to do it.

I think he'll take a long term deal, and front load the actual dollars. Something like 6, 4, 2, 2, 1 or however it works out.

no way does he command close to perry/getzlaf money, i think he'd get probably around 2.75-3.25 per year

between 2 and 4. closer to 2 if he tops out at 40 points, closer to 4 if he tops out around 60.

Paul Mara did and he is a vet but i think dubinsky and stall we should lock up. panthers did it with horton who i think dubinsky will be just as good.

Let's see how he does. If he slumps to third line form, then he'll get $1.5. If he proves himself a top-shelf second liner, then he can get up to $4.

thats a pretty bold statement, horton is gonna be their team next year, i dont know if dubinsky could do that with the rangers. Horton has the potential to be a franchise player.

He'll score 55, get that contract, then have 3 years of perfection at 80 +/- points.

If we can lock him up long-term on the cheap, that'd be great. Assuming he continues to progress anyway.

I agree and disagree on the Horton comparison.

Horton has a bit more size than Dubinsky, but both are high-energy, aggressive players. I do think Dubinsky would be an ideal power-forward and could potentially blossom if he was moved to the wing as Horton did when he came into the NHL.

Horton has the skill to be a 35g/40a+ power forward. While I don't think Dubinsky has those numbers in him, I think he could be a 30g/30a player throughout his career.
