Won't hurt. at least he still has the desire to play in NY unlike some other Czechs..

Although his career has been in the crapper since he last left NY maybe it will do him good to come back.. worst case scenario he signs for league minimum and gets waived.

If he makes the team

I would be shocked. Funny thing about this guy, we weren't very good when he played with us. If we sat near each other you may remember, I would rank his play (under my breath of course) and then he would score two. I don't think there is any real connection save the memory but if he makes the team...

.

Nedved was a good soldier here in NY and one of the few bright spots during a very bad period.

He, Hlavac and Dvorak provided some of our most competitive hockey for a season+.

I have no problem with him coming in as he would be a good influence (along with out other vets) on our youngsters.

Agreed. Plus he always got mauled and no one on those NYR teams ever stuck up for him. He was scapegoated by a lot of people on the board - unfairly IMO.

That said, unless his son is coming to camp, this isn't going to make a difference once the season starts.

Beat me to it.......
He has nothing to lose, if he gets in great, if not he has a gig in hometown Liberec alongside Modry.

In the Czech article it says that N. expects no gifts nor guarantees. For him its a matter of love for the club that he spent 7 years in.

I don't expect being able to get 1 line duty neither do I think I am 4th line material. but honestly I reckon 3rd line duty is a realistic objective.

I miss 18 games to make it 1000
- 717 points - he is 3rd highest czech player

I agree as well. He played well here. Again, this seems to be the year of "new scenery" so who knows. Lets see what he has left in him if any.

No ones hurt by a tryout, not us, not him...
obviously he knows our cap situation so he cant be after a paycheck...
he played very well for us, even during some of our leanest years...
plays the center or wing position...

no harm done here

Oh good lord. I dunno which is worse, the fact that he was invited or that there are fans here who are actually "okay" with this. I mean, I half expected this to be some jokey spin off of the 'titles you never want to see...' thread. Chalk this up as a title I never wanted to see as a Rangers "fan".

He wa playing for Sparta in Czech Extraliga last season and he was pretty good before he got hurt. When he came back he was awfull and he was one of the reasons a rich Sparta club made its exist in the first rounf of PO after a pretty dismall effort.

No later than September 17th. Exact dates aren't known except Traverse City starts on the 13th and pre-season on the 20th.

I see no reason why this guy is in camp. His game @ the NHL Level is done. I would rather see a kid get a look.

He won't make it, so I have no problem with it.

I mean, it doesn't really matter either way. He's not going to make the team. I guess it's just kind of funny

It's a non-factor.

I guess I'm immediately responding to the people who's gut reaction was to complain about this.

Nedved, while far from being what we would have liked, was a good player and good guy here.

No need to kick dirt on him.

If he beats a kid out for a spot, shouldn't he get it?

He shouldn't even be allowed to compete for the spot.
