Two words for his agent: offer sheet.

There are so many teams out there starved for goaltending I'm sure one of them would have made a nicer offer.

definitely a steal. If he continues to play and develop like he did last year he will be an elite goalie in this league.

I think everyone knew that Howson would match any offer, so why drive up salaries even more? Most GM's probably figured that in this case they would be hurting everyone by offering too much for Pazzy.

This may shock you, but sometimes the player isn't interested in playing elsewhere for a greater price

Leclaire should be moved to Hamilton or Quebec or Winnipeg where he belongs.

Good signing. Have to imagine that the savings is due to the term, though. 3 years is a pretty short contract compared to what a lot of younger players have been getting.

Still, Columbus has a very good goalie under contract at a very good price for the next 3, so if they can set themselves up to do well by the end of that contract they're in fine shape.

I concur with everyone else, that's a great signing. Less than a four million cap hit for one of the better goalies in the league, hold off on the big contract for now while he continues to develop. Great deal for the Jackets.
