If we get Sakic, will he be our number 2 or number 3 center?
I say Plek is number 1 because he'll play with Kovalev and A. Kost...but will Sakic replace Koivu as number 2?

A. Kost Plek AK 27
Higgins Sakic/Koivu Tanguay
Lats Koivu/Sakic S. Kost

I doubt Sakic goes anywhere, to be honest.. He'll likely retire.

Sakic

Other center options if Sundin Signs elsewhere?

If Sundin does not Sign with le Canadiens who would u guys like to see Gainey go after.

My vote goes to:

Robert Lang 6'3 216lbs
-4 million for one more season
- 07/08 stats 21G 33A 54PTS

Would looks real good on this team as a third line center. Plus montreal would have about 3 million to add another piece at the deadline if needed.

Tangs-Pleks-Kovalev
A.Kost-Koivu-S.Kost
Higgins-Lang-Lats
Kosto-Lapierre-Laraque

What do you guys think, and what options do you like?

Sakic would be amazing in a Habs jersey, but can never see it happening.

What's up with Sakic? Why isn't there a frenzy around him?

Before the merge.....Viktor Kozlov on the 3rd line. Big right-handed centerman. Nylander is coming back for the Caps with this big salary of his. They might need to make some room to not be that close to the payroll. They have too many centermen, and he's UFA next year.

Either one would be a nice plan B if we are unable to sign Sundin. If I had to choose between the two, I would probably lean towards Kozlov.

Lang is washed up and overpaid, I'd go with Higgins and sign a winger before getting Lang. There is always Selanne and possibly Shanahan.

You wouldn't be tempted to reunite him with Kovy? With the rejuvenated season he had last year, I can see him and Lang lighting it up one more time

I would've said Shawn Horcoff but he has been resigned by the Oilers...

Maybe a team will falll down the standings and say a guy like Brind'amour could become available ? Who knows...every season is full of surprises.

Until then I'd say someone like Nylander, Arnott (if available of course although I highly doubt it much like Brind'amour) or someone like Lombardi...

The truth and the matter is, right now there's not much centermen available, and Gainey will have to wait for a GM who wants to cut up his payroll and trade someone, which will happen eventually.
