OT: Chicago's future just got a lot brighter

Scotty Bowman is joining the 'Hawks as Senior Advisor for Hockey Ops.

I really think this sends a message to the league that the 'Hawks are serious about turning their franchise around, and is also a statement that they can attract the best in class talent like Bowman. Clearly they are looking ahead to a time when they don't have top 15 picks in the draft and need to build an organization that develops talent at all levels.

Good for you Blackhawks!

they did sign Huet, who is an All-Star Goaltender. and i think a top line of Kane-Toews-Sharp aint too shabby. plus if you had D core of Keith-Seabrook, Campbell-Barker, Wisniewski-Hajarlsonn you'd be pretty good.

Huet is average at best in my opinion and hitting his mid-thirties, they need a guy for the future, they seem to think Crawford can take over the job, I'm not so sure.

but I love their defense corp and their forwards are very good and young and they have more in the system coming. I just don't trust Huet or Crawford, I would feel much better about them contending if they had a Bernier, Price, Lundqvist, some young kid who could actually challenge Huet for that spot.

It didn't hurt that Bowman's son is also the Assistant GM.

Say what you want, but nepotism was been rampant recently in signings. Ryan Malone's dad joins the scouting staff for TB and then they swing the deal for Ryan.

Under these scenarios, I say to hire Sundin's wife to be the head of MSG cosmetics research for 8 million dollars a year

I'm sure Scotty's son has something to do with it, but Bowman's departure from the Wings has been rumored for years.

The TBL Malone thing is much iffier in my view, but apparently the league investigated and said there was no tampering. Maybe the NHLPA needs to grow a set and start fining or otherwise punishing players for taking smaller salaries? Me, I don't like any of my parents enough to want to work with or for them, so it's kind of a mystery to me.
