WILLIAM HOUSTON
From Friday's Globe and Mail

http://www.globesports.com/servlet/s...rtsHockey/home

Another change at Hockey Night will have the Western play-by-play team of Jim Hughson and Craig Simpson working, for the most part, in the East on Saturdays to call the first game of the doubleheader.

bob and harry, were terrible,

such homers,

even if they did a game and the leafs were not the team on the ice, it would somehow come around to it

like in the playoffs, leafs are out, and they would bring them up,

While my favourite combo is Miller and McQuire of TSN, Jim Hughson is the best hockey play by play man since Danny Gallivan.

not trolling but it is a well knnown fact that Bob Coles favourite team has been and always will be the Habs... Neale hasnt really done that many HNIC games since he started doing the commentary for the Sabres this past season but yes i agree that greg millen is a homer...but absolutely not bob cole

His favorite team may be the habs.. but he has become leaf centric in the way he thinks...
He is no spring chicken and he always does leaf games. He knows the leafs roster inside and out; and when he mistakes players on other teams he often refers to them as players on the leafs. The Leafs are often a reference point in stories that he might tell during breaks in the action, even if they are not playing.

Another thing I hate, he never gets penalty calls right. For example if there is a delayed penalty and toronto touches the puck and the whistle blows he'll often say... Canadiens are getting a penalty here. He should have watched enough hockey to realize the whistle is blown when the offending team touches the puck.

Gord Miller is AWFUL in my opinion.

I think (don't quote me) that TSN is making Chris Cuthbert (hockey's best PBP man) their #1 hockey commentator.

On topic: Thank the maker that Bob Cole is out. Dude was great....15 years ago.

Healy is working for the NHLPA now and is no longer at TSN.

I think Chris and Pierre are the #1 team at TSN now.

Cole was not a homer, my complaints with him is that he had lost his edge. He was increasingly making inaccurate calls, editorializing and getting player names wrong (when he remembered them at all).

I had the biggest hate for Cole for the last couple years, but I watched Calgary vs. Montreal '89 finals on NHL Network recently and that reminded me that he was in fact a legend, just one who held on too long.

Isn't it still Gord and Pierre?

Cole might have been a Habs fan...but he was a Leaf homer/announcer, absolutley brutal...and as far as Harry Neale,

Speaking of CBC, anyone been listening to some of the Hockey Night in Canada Theme entries?

There's way too many to listen to them all, there in the couple of hundreds. But you can break them down by ratings. I'm yet to find one that blows my mind.

I try to imagine Lecavalier and Tremblay talking about their wives and their dog and all these other subjects that Houde and Pedneault were so great at and I just can't.....

Was pure hockey and a pure joy to listen to them....
